Some Harry Potter fans are theorizing that Rupert Grint was not actually present for the reunion special. It has been over 20 years since JK Rowling's popular novels were introduced to the world on the big screen. Eight movies were produced in the original Harry Potter saga, establishing the careers of its young stars. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and Tom Felton established their careers and notoriety throughout their stint portraying their iconic characters.

An entire generation grew up watching the Harry Potter movies, inevitably intertwining the cast with warm childhood memories. Finally, after a decade of pleasing audiences around the globe, the saga came to a close in 2011 with the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. The story's conclusion was bittersweet, leaving a void for many due to the fact that their favorite characters would not share the screen together again in the foreseeable future. It is no surprise that devoted followers of the movies were elated when HBO announced a reunion special featuring many of the original cast members.

The Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts reunion began streaming earlier this month. The program features joint interviews with some of the most beloved actors detailing their behind-the-scene experiences while filming the Harry Potter movies. It has been well received but that has not stopped hardcore Potterheads from analyzing and critiquing every detail in the feature. Errors, such as mixing up the names of the Phelps twins and attributing a childhood picture of Emma Roberts to Emma Watson, were quickly pointed out by viewers. Now, some sharp-eyed fanatics may have discovered another discrepancy: Grint's on-set appearance. Cosmopolitan recently explained that Watson's nails may be evidence that Grint had been edited into the shots. In shots where Watson is with Radcliffe and Grint, her nails appear to be pale pink with black tips; in shots where she's alone with Grint, her nails are gold.

There is clearly a distinction between the styles when she is shown with Grint, even if Watson's outfit and earrings do appear the same. To further the theory, internet sleuths are also pointing to the inclusion of a Canadian film crew included in the final credits. Last fall, Grint was seen filming in Canada for the upcoming Netflix series Cabinet of Curiosities. Those perpetuating the theory believe that Grint was actually in Canada and filmed separately from the rest of the Harry Potter cast due to his schedule.

While Grint and Watson do share a conversation and even hold hands at one point, it does seem a bit suspicious that her appearance changes in their shared scenes. Alternate explanations could possibly explain the discrepancy but the inclusion of the Canadian crew and Watson's attempt to match her wardrobe do seem rather suspicious under the circumstances. One can only hope that the truth somehow involves Watson engaging a Time-Turner she took from the set; after all, Harry Potter magic is still alive and well today.
