J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series brought the world dozens of memorable characters, places, and, of course, spells. The wizards and witches of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter had quite a few incantations up their sleeves, seemingly for every situation imaginable. They might not have faced many of the same situations that Muggles did, but some of those bad boys would be quite useful in the non-magical world.

Every one of J.K. Rowling's innumerable readers would loooove to pluck a few of those spells out of the pages of her books and use them during their daily lives. They would eliminate little hassles that have vexed humans for years. Here are 10 of the most practical spells for people to use in real life.

Accio

Harry cast accio in Harry Potter

This is one is obvious. The Summoning Charm allows the caster to summon any object he or she wishes. Did you lose your keys? Maybe if you were just a magic-less Muggle you did. You have a magic wand now, though. Say "Accio my keys," flick your wand and bam! Your keys will come soaring out of whatever crevice you dropped them into and nestle right into your hands. No more tearing your hair out looking for things, for your magical powers have now made you the most organized person ever. All you have to do is not lose your wand...

Scourgify

You are already as neat as you can be after having learned the Summoning Charm. It is now time to clean your room/apartment/house in an instant. Scourgify cleans objects, so you never have to worry about mopping floors, dusting shelves, or cleaning dishes. This spell takes care of all that, giving you much more time to...do whatever it is you want to do. By all means, have guests over every day, for it won't take long to clean and organize everything. Your wand is essentially every Billy Mays product wrapped into one.

Muffliato

This is a great spell for a movie theater, or perhaps any situation in which you'd like to gossip a little. Muffliato shields others around you from hearing your conversation. You and someone else can now speak privately without disturbing anyone, even though you might not be in a private setting.

You can essentially have an important meeting wherever you are, for you can safely divulge sensitive information without the threat of someone overhearing it.

Episkey

Episkey heals those bruises, cuts, burns, and all other little injuries that can really put a damper on a good time. This spell is probably most practical for outdoorsmen-types who make their living with their hands, but men and women of all walks of life would surely love the ability to eliminate what is arguably the most devastating minor injury a human being can endure; the paper cut. Poof, you never have to worry about those again. Send and open as many letters as you want.

Reparo

Reparo, which fixes broken things, would probably put a lot of shops out of business, for you will never need a handyman again. But whatever, that's not your problem. All you care about is fixing that air conditioning or perhaps putting that broken vase back together. With Reparo in the arsenal, these inconveniences become things of the past. This incantation is especially useful for those who tend to be a bit clumsy, hence the aforementioned broken vase. Be as clumsy as you want, you klutz you. Just don't break the wand.

Reducio

Reducio makes things smaller. This might not seem like it would be particularly useful, until you consider how much this would affect packing. Reducio eliminates the stress of body-slamming your luggage in an attempt to get the zipper all the way around or having to wear three sweaters in the airport because you had to get your suitcase under the weight limit.

Pack as many sweaters, shoes, and knick-knacks as you want, for you will probably be able to fit them all with room to spare. Just always remember how to make them big again (Engorgio).

Portus

Speaking of traveling, have you ever wanted to whisk off to the South of France in an instant? Maybe to Venice? With Portus, you can turn any object into a Portkey, which transports you to another set location. Some might use this spell to travel to a favorite location spot, while others might want Portus for work-related matters. Do you live in Seattle, yet you just landed the job of your dreams in New York City? Not a problem. Create a Portkey using Portus and you can work any place you'd like. There will just never be another valid excuse to be late.

Sonorus

For those people that really want to be heard, Sonorus is a tremendous spell. It amplifies the voice of the caster, making it audible even in a crowd of screaming people. Excellent for teachers trying to calm down an unruly class, or perhaps hecklers at sporting events who are trying to get in players' heads. There are many instances when it helps to be heard, but it is just as important to not overdo things with Sonorus. Imagine dealing with a person whose voice was always a few decibels above everyone else's. That sounds brutal.

Relashio

Relashio disarms a person, making him or her release anything he or she is holding. This is an excellent spell for members of law enforcement who might be dealing with criminals that are wielding deadly weapons. It is also useful for parents who can't get their children to let go of something. In summation, Relashio is good for those who are in charge while they are dealing with insubordinate people. Oh, and if someone steals the last slice of pizza, even though you know it was meant for you.

Alohomora

You have to promise to be a good person when you use this one. Alohomora magically opens anything with a lock on it. This is great if you are the kind of person that tends to lock yourself out of your car, house, etc., or forgets his bike lock combination. However, it can also breed some law-breaking if it is used mischievously. Make sure to use this spell for moral purposes, and not for breaking into other people's homes and cars, or stealing their bikes.
