A new Harry Potter pop-up book takes fans into the mysterious world of Diagon Alley like never before. The book, Harry Potter: A Pop-Up Guide to Diagon Alley and Beyond is set to arrive this October from publishers Insight Editions.

After being introduced in JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 1997, Diagon Alley was later built up into a magical wizarding shopping street when the books were adapted into films. In addition to being an essential stop for any Hogwarts student looking for school supplies, Diagon Alley also had its share of dark secrets and sinister wizards lurking about. And of course, the area is well known to Potter fans due to it being the location of Gringotts Wizarding Bank, where Harry’s money is stored, along with numerous other secrets.

For fans of the Potter franchise, Diagon Alley is one of the most intriguing places in all of the books and novels, thanks to its wide diversity of wizarding world highlights. The area can be visited in real life at Universal’s Wizard World themed areas and is one of Orlando's best theme park attractions, but this of course, may be tough for all fans to visit at the moment due to COVID-19. Fortunately, Harry Potter: A Pop-Up Guide to Diagon Alley and Beyond is on its way. And we have an exclusive preview of the impressive Hogwarts Express spread presented by New York Times best-selling paper engineer Matthew Reinhart:

The new book takes the concept of pop-up books to another level, allowing fans to not only see Diagon Alley come to life on each page, but to actually turn the entire book into the famed shopping area. Created by paper engineer Matthew Reinhardt, A Pop-Up Guide to Diagon Alley also allows fans to journey beneath Gringotts through an intricately designed pop-up concept. When completely unfolded, the entire book is a four-foot diorama with a variety of pull tabs and pops that also includes 14 different paper dolls of characters from the Harry Potter franchise.

The book will arrive on October 20th - available to order here - and as previously mentioned, its four-foot diorama provides an all new perspective into Diagon Alley. Some of the other places that fans can explore Ollivanders (where all wizards good and evil get their wands), Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, The Leaky Cauldron, The Ministry of Magic and even platform nine and three quarters. The book is priced at (USD) $75, and will likely make a perfect gift for Harry Potter fans come this holiday season. What’s more, the book includes trivia and behind the scenes facts about the films’ production, making A Pop-Up Guide to Diagon Alley a piece of Potter memorabilia that’s truly brimming with highlights for fans.

Being able to create a diorama of one of the franchise’s most fascinating places is a unique offering for fans and collectors. The numerous secrets within will also no doubt help keep the magic of Harry Potter going, some twenty-three years after the first book was published.
