Few other franchises have reached the pinnacles of popularity and fandom that Harry Potter has managed to (unsuccessful spin-offs or not.) The tale of the boy wizard has been expanded into its very own universe, yet there are subtle details about the books and movies that only truly dedicated fans will remember and recognize.

The internet is always hard at work, making memes about Harry Potter and his exploits, and some of these memes are pretty niche. Only eagle-eyed fans would be able to remember the references and connections that these memes make to The Boy Who Lived.

He Said, Calmly

For the uninitiated, the abbreviation stands for "Harry Potter, did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?" Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire can be summed up with the meme about Dumbledore screaming at Harry about putting his name in the Goblet, but few can decode the line from just its first letters.

As nonchalant as a "wyd" means in texting etiquette, Dumbledore's tirade was the very opposite of it. His passion and anger were quite impressive (and unlike the calm delivery of his book counterpart), and sometimes people just need that energy that the great wizard showed in the fourth installment.

Seamus And Fireworks

True fans would look beyond just the main characters of Harry Potter, and notice the antics of a certain Mr. Finnigan in the background. Poor Seamus had a tough time with magic, and almost always ended up with pyrotechnics instead of miracles when he used his wand.

A trail of fiery destruction was always left behind the wizard, even when he tried to turn water into rum, where the fire element wasn't even involved.

Just A Couple Of Animagi

The Marauders were a big part of the book, and less so in the movies. To the untrained eye, this image is just a cute dog laying with a deer in snow, but to the true Potterhead, it holds a bigger meaning.

The Marauders were all Animagi and a Werewolf: Remus, Peter the rat, James the stag, and Sirius the dog. The colors may not be as accurate as in the books, but this scene looks like a moment between James and Sirius in their Animagus forms.

Filbridge/ Umbilch

Casual fans discuss Harry and Ginny, or Ron and Hermione as their favorite Harry Potter couples, but many forget what a powerful pair Umbridge and Filch were, revolting as their partnership may be.

Even their couple names are quite ugly-sounding, just like all their deeds to suppress and control the students and staff at Hogwarts. In Umbridge, Filch had truly found a partner-in-crime who supported his calls for corporal punishment and archaic rules. They did rule Hogwarts for a while, though.

The Wizard Version Of The Pinky Promise

Muggles may evoke the pinky promise at the drop of a hat, but Potterheads would know that the wizarding world's version of the promise to each other was very different, very magical, and very dangerous if broken.

The Unbreakable Vow was an easily forgettable, but very important part of the series because Snape did one with Narcissa. Once done, the vower was bonded to the vowee by life: if they did not fulfill their promise, they faced certain death which was quite a commitment to make!

The Missing Weasley

Book fans would have noticed a glaring absence in the Weasley family on screen — Charlie Weasley. The elder Weasley brother was an important family member, and even vital to the plot of Norberta the dragon and Hagrid, but he never really made it to screen.

Charlie was truly forgotten or skimmed over by the movie makers, and fans of the Weasley sibling were felt keenly by eagle-eyed fans.

The Basilisk Effect

This clever meme combines the best of Chamber of Secrets with Gloria Gaynor's hit song "I Will Survive." Only real fans of Harry Potter would be able to figure out the true lyrics and reference to the Petrification that the Basilisk's victim's faced.

Most importantly, sharp fans would remember that Hermione and the gang only "survived" because they caught a glimpse of the snake through reflections in water and lenses, or else they would have died.

Non-Judgmental Fred And George

At first glance, this meme makes little sense, until fans realize that it was Fred and George who had the Marauder's Map for a long time before Harry did. They used it to spy on people, including Ron, so they must have spotted someone named Peter Pettigrew in rather proximity to their brother.

To their credit, the twins kept their mouths shut and didn't breathe a word of it to anyone. It's hard to tell whether that made them good siblings, or bad ones for not letting Ron know about Scabbers.

Batman?

Being the main character, Harry's life and personality were well scrutinized by fans, but they may have missed out on the bigger picture which connected him to another franchise perfectly.

In this meme, Hedwig seems to put two and two together: Harry had a vault full of piles of gold, he was wronged at a young age by the murder of his parents, and he dedicated his life to fighting evil forces, much like the ever-so-popular DC hero Batman.

Ron's Aliases

Fans of the youngest Weasley brother may know his many names, and how he goes by Ronald, Won-Won, Mr. Weasley, Roonil Wazzlib, and so on, but only real fans will remember the oddest way his name was twisted.

Horace Slughorn only cared for connected and rich students, so it was no surprise that Ron was hardly paid attention to. To Him, Ron was not even a Weasley, but Wallenby which was his most bizarre alias so far.
