The School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has an intense and well stories history. Luckily the students of the legendary Hogwarts have a book that details the evolution of the building, its classes, its foundations and its culture.

Hogwarts: A History is a book mentioned by Hermione many times and actually provides a few answers when it concerns some of the more secretive elements of the school. Its author, Bathilda Bagshot, appears later in the series as a key supporting character.

Quidditch Through The Ages is a novel that fans can actually buy in real life, thanks to a charity effort from Comic Relief. The Wizarding World iteration of the book goes into the deep history of the famous sport.

Harry's schooling life has been defined by his time on a Quidditch pitch, so it's fascinating to take a further look at how the sport has developed. It was certainly a useful text for those at the school looking to make it onto the house teams.

The Lockhart Collection

Gilderoy Lockhart is one of the most useless teachers to have ever taught at Hogwarts. One of the many faculty members that taught the defence against the dark arts classes, Lockhart's own experiences were actually a lie.

Albus Dumbledore turned out to be a controversial figure due to the many troubled choices he made throughout his life. Many of his decisions harmed those around him, with his sister, brother and Harry himself feeling the consequences.

While Dumbledore may have been a competent Headmaster, there was still so much to learn about the mighty wizard. Rita Skeeter's work certainly shed a lot of light on his complicated life.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an important text in the larger Wizarding World. It's inspired a film series and much like Quidditch Through The Ages, is actually available to read in the real world.

The Tales Of Beadle The Bard

The Tales of Beadle the Bard served as a gateway into the fictional stories of the Wizarding World. Once again this novel is available to muggles worldwide, but one story in particular stands out.

It was the Bard's work that ultimately produced the Tale of the Three Brothers, which revealed the reality of the elder wand, the stone of resurrection and the cloak of invisibility.

Advanced Potion-Making is already an incredible important purchase for any student looking to better themselves in one of Slughorn's classes. But one particular copy has some additional benefits.

A herbology book may not seem that important on the face of it. While it was certainly influential in Neville Longbottom's own studies, it also carries a larger role in the novels.

Magical Water Plants of the Highland Rocks demonstrates that there are plants, like gillyweed, which can be used to breathe underwater. This aids in Harry's breakthrough in the Triwizard Tournament.
