With the pending release of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy building up anticipation for the fandom, despite its numerous setbacks, the characters of the original books and movies always remain fresh in the minds of their fans. The Harry Potter universe is ripe with unique and interesting characters, many of whom have great potential for memes.Molly Weasley isn't the first character a fan likely thinks of when it comes to the Wizarding World, but she is a very prominent figure in Harry's life as a maternal figure. Her parenting has been the subject of many debates, though, and more importantly, many memes.
A Difference In Greeting
The scene where Ron and Harry get in trouble for stealing the flying car in The Chamber of Secrets has become a major source of Molly Weasley memes, as her difference in tone in how she greets Ron and Harry is heavily relatable.
The idea that parents are nicer to some of their children's friends than their own kids is a common feeling amongst teenagers. This has made the Molly Weasley treatment of Harry in favor over her own kids all the more funny. Her behavior has led to many unpopular Molly Weasley opinions about the character on Reddit.
Not Amused
Fred and George are constantly up to no good, and the two pranksters are responsible for some of the funniest moments in the films. While their antics earn them a renown at Hogwarts, one person is not impressed: their mother.
As much as Molly loves her boys, she is likely more tired of the behavior than anyone else. A particular example is when they learn to apparate, and keep using it to jump around quickly and scare Molly with it. Her expression is similar to that of the wolf in the meme, which is just one that sums up the Weasley Family quite well.
Breakfast Prepared
A common meme about the difference in how Molly treats Harry and Ron is how she makes their breakfasts. Though the Wizarding World often has far more lavish looking meals, the point still gets across about the quality of what each boy receives.
Ron was often used for comedic relief purposes in the films, so him getting the short end of the stick at breakfast seems highly possible. One would hope that the coffee he is served is good at least, as a carved up slice of bread crust in a bowl does not seem appealing. The question of his mother's love is one of Ron Weasley's main fears.
The Favorite Child
Out of seven children to choose from, it would be hard to pick a favorite. Many fans have theorized and joked that she would have to then choose Harry. The few small photographs of her children on the wall next to the giant framed photo of Harry would make it seem that way.
While this is just a meme, many fans have believed that she actually does see Harry as her favorite, and consider her a poor mother to Ron because of it. The films never really spend time on her direct relationships with each of her children though, and their unanimously good character and morals could signify that she was attentive and reliable to each of them. Maybe if some Weasley family moments that were left out of the films had made it in, it would be easier to understand their dynamic.
Bars On Your Window
In the screen cap from the movies, Molly's directness is shown as she threatens to bar up Ron's windows for stealing the car to go help Harry. This is due to the bars the Dursley's put on Harry's window to prevent him from escaping and returning to Hogwarts the next school year.
While the Wizarding World would become thankful that Harry was allowed to return to Hogwarts eventually, the immediate reaction was quite enraged, as the stunt could have gone seriously wrong in many ways. Ron likely did deserve some discipline for his actions on this one.
How'd It Go?
Arthur Weasley's reaction to the usage of the flying car is priceless, as he seems way less concerned about it than Molly. Being the responsible one, she quickly gives him the look to rethink his words, and he adjusts to a half-baked scolding.
While audiences know Arthur is a source for good throughout the series, his ditzy response to the statement makes for fun comedic relief in the films. It creates a strong character dynamic with Molly as the matriarch and voice of reason in the household.
Returned Out Of Fear
While Molly isn't in this meme, the poster seems to think it gives off her kind of vibe. The resurrection of Voldemort being re-purposed as Wormtail having 20 missed calls from the Dark Lord is hilariously fitting.
It does give off Molly Weasley energy, as for any of her children, the prospect of opening a cell phone (if they existed during the events of the story) to 20 missed calls from her would be frightening. It begs the question of how many missed calls Harry could get away with before no longer being the favorite son.
Old Faithful
The Prisoner of Azkaban has one of the most intricate storylines of any Harry Potter film, and the main twist of the film is that Ron's rat, Scabbers, is actually the wizard Wormtail, who would later be involved in the resurrection of Voldemort and his following rise to power.
So it's a good thing attentive mother Molly Weasley was there to make sure Scabbers wasn't left behind.
It's a clever trick with filmmaking, to put a moment in that is seemingly just a line of character building, which actually ends up being the lead up to an integral part of the film. The meme sarcastically shows how obvious the scene is on a re-watch, when knowing who the rat actually is. The Chekhov's gun principle has to apply in the wizarding world too!
