Harry Potter was born on July 31, 1980, and fans celebrated his birthday all around the world. The boy who lived would now be a 42-year-old father of three and faithful husband of Ginny Weasley. The School of Witchcraft and Wizardry received thousands of students throughout the years that were sorted into different Houses depending on their personality traits.Although Gryffindor and Slytherin received most of the attention, there were other two other houses worthy of praise and admiration, and Hufflepuff was one of them. There are many things that define Hufflepuff, and luckily there are memes to hilariously sum them up.
Founded By Helga Hufflepuff
As fans know, Hogwart's Houses were founded by Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Salazar Slytherin, and Helga Hufflepuff. The latter was kind, empathetic, caring, and patient, which are the same traits the Sorting Hat searches for in Hufflepuff students. While everyone else chose an appealing and impotent animal to represent their House, Helga chose a badger, which she could have chosen because she thought they look cute and silly for all fans know.
Badgers At Heart
The badger may look silly and harmless, however, they are known to be quite aggressive if provoked. They are usually peaceful animals minding their own business, but if they have to defend themselves from predators or any other danger, they can be skillful warriors, just like Hufflepuffs.
While Gryffindor and Slytherin have the most awkward relationships in Harry Potter and are always fighting each other because of their rivalry, Hufflepuffs are usually chilling and contemplating the drama from afar, not really interested in any unnecessary conflict that does not involve them.
Outstanding Members
Of all of Hogwart's students, Hufflepuff may have the biggest percentage of Harry Potter characters worthy of holding Mjolnir. They are righteous and although Gryffindors are famous for being brave, there are plenty of courageous Hufflepuffs who use their courage to do good.
Their unbreakable kind spirits have made them the only Hogwarts House that has never produced a dark wizard or a death eater. Potterheads always like to make fun of Hufflepuffs, but nobody talks about this jaw-dropping record that proves everyone should want to be a member of Helga's House.
Underestimated
Hufflepuffs are usually underestimated because of their serene personas. For some, Hufflepuffs are students whose traits couldn't be placed in any other of the three Hogwart Houses, and this led many to believe that no one could be proud of being a Hufflepuff.
Nevertheless, as stated before, there are plenty of admirable Hufflepuff members, and any wizard should be proud of belonging to the House of the badger. Newt Scamander, played by Eddie Redmayne, is one of the most likable characters in Fantastic Beasts and people should remember he is a Hufflepuff, meaning heroic characters are not always Gryffindors.
Kind-Hearted
What defines Hufflepuffs is their loyalty, friendliness, honesty, and hard-working attributes. Just like their founder, they are usually kind-hearted individuals, who are inclined to be impartial and not seek any sort of conflict. Meanwhile, Gryffindors can be the first in line to try out a new spell or weapon. Ravenclaws would definitely approach the weapon intellectually and would think of all the possible implications it would have, and Slytherins would try to use it for evil means, just like the post depicts. But, of course, a Hufflepuff member would only think about slicing the toast and rejoice in eating it.
Peaceful And Impartial
Hufflepuff does not have a rivalry with any other Hogwarts House and is not that competitive by nature. Although this has had some people point to them as cowards, Hufflepuffs know how to defend themselves when they need to.
When Voldemort attacked Hogwarts, Hufflepuffs were the most numbered students to stay and defend the castle. When it's an important conflict and not some absurd rivalry drama, Hufflepuff will definitely fight, and if that's not the case, they would rather relax and enjoy tasty treats.
Jigglypuff...?
Hufflepuff sounds very similar to popular pink Pokémon, Jigglypuff, which has led to multiple people confusing both names. People who are not fans of the Wizarding World, especially parents who cannot tell the difference between Pokémon and Harry Potter, are usually victims of their almost identical phonetics. It is easy to imagine someone in Who Wants To Be A Millionaire show being questioned something like what is depicted in the meme, and them failing miserably due to the extreme resemblance Hufflepuff and Jigglypuff share in their names. Yet aside from their names, there are similarities. Both Hufflepuff and Jigglypuff are sweet-natured, endearing and of a peaceful temperament.
Least Popular House
Although Slytherins were considered villains and Pottermore had most fans crying about being placed in the House of Salazar, some thought wearing green robes was not as bad as being a Hufflepuff. After all, if it wasn't for Dumbledore's strange points count, Slytherin would have won the house cup for multiple years in a row.
Every House has a reputation they can't run away from, and although Slytherin had some despicable members, it also had extraordinary students who were overshadowed by the House's fame. Hufflepuff doesn't have a bad reputation necessarily, but it's their lack of fame that makes people think it's better to be a Slytherin.
Loyal And Strong
Hufflepuffs are known for being loyal and fair players, and although they have a reputation for being weak, they are very strong and capable. The best character to prove that was Cedric Diggory, whose death was one of Harry Potter's most heartbreaking moments. Cedric's traits as a Hufflepuff made him an outstanding wizard and companion who was willing to help Harry (even though they were competing against each other).
Harry and Cedric tried to protect one another from the Triwizard Tournament's threats, unfortunately, Voldemort commanded Wormtail to kill Diggory. After his death, he was always remembered as the extraordinary student he was and remained everyone how incredible Hufflepuffs can be.
The House Took Everyone In
Gryffindors are famous for being brave, Slytherins for being ambitious, Ravenclaws for being intelligent, and Hufflepuffs, for being none of the above. Although there are defining traits Helga Hufflepuff asked the Sorting Hat to take into account before placing someone in the House, Hufflepuffs have been compared to potatoes in the Potter community because of their apparent lack of personality.
This couldn't be further away from the truth, and it's more of a stereotype that fans joke about. There are many outstanding Hufflepuff wizards that prove every step of the way that they are splendid personas, but Potterheads can't help laughing at Hufflepuff's reputation.
