Tom Felton takes to Instagram to share a heartwarming tribute to his Harry Potter co-star, Robbie Coltrane, who passed away earlier this week. Best known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, Felton shared the screen with Coltrane who starred as the lovable half-giant, Rubeus Hagrid. Coltrane's character has since become one of the franchise's most beloved faces, given his warm demeanor and unwavering affection towards the series' titular hero, Harry Potter.
Earlier this week, many were devastated by the news that Coltrane had sadly passed away at the age of 72. In the days since this heartbreaking news, tributes have flooded in for the actor who, alongside his memorable work on Harry Potter, boasted an extensive career that saw him star in a number of standout projects across the years. Coltrane's numerous Harry Potter co-stars have also shared their own sweet tributes to the late actor, including Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, both of whom worked closely with Coltrane throughout their time as Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, respectively. Now, Felton has joined his co-stars in remembering Coltrane in a sweet Instagram post.
Felton shared a photo of himself alongside Coltrane and Watson, as well as fellow co-star Rupert Grint, taken during what appears to be promotional leg of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's 2001 release. In the photo, Felton and his young co-stars can be seen standing in front of Coltrane, who has his arms around them as they pose for the photo. In the caption, Felton shared a story about his experience filming a scene with Coltrane when he was just 12 years old, calling his co-star "a big friendly giant" both on-screen and off. Despite Coltrane's previous works, his role as Hagrid is likely to be his most memorable appearance for many, particularly those who have been long-running fans of the magical franchise. Now, even more so, his performance as Hagrid is only likely to continue doing just that, with older footage having recently been circulated on social media of the actor discussing how Hagrid will live on forever, even after he is gone. Much like Felton's tribute, Coltrane's Harry Potter co-stars have each echoed the same sentiment, that the actor was just as kind-hearted and fun-loving as his on-screen counterpart.
