Hogwarts is a huge place, and, while not every single room is showcased during the Harry Potter movies, there are some locations that are shown frequently. The Great Hall, Hagrid's Hut, and the Gryffindor common room are great examples of that, with the latter being a really fun and vibrant location within the movie.

The Gryffindor common room is always showcased as a warm and cozy environment, though, from time to time, it can play host to some major events. With the three lead characters all being sorted into Gryffindor, there are plenty of important scenes that take place inside this location throughout the movies.

Ron's First Kiss

Ron and Lavender

One of the greatest moments from the movie is after Ron Weasley gets to play his first game for the Gryffindor team at Quidditch. He has a great game, and he gets a hero's return when they arrive back at the common room. Ron believes he's had some liquid luck, only for Harry to reveal to Hermione he never gave him it.

While the celebrations were fun, Ron kissing Lavender Brown ends up being a huge moment. This is obviously when Hermione begins to really understand that she has feelings for Ron, as she can't stand watching them.

Ron's Love Potion

Speaking of Ron Weasley and his romantic side, another hilarious scene that takes place in the common room is when Ron ends up eating some chocolate that is filled with a love potion. These are originally meant for Harry, but the reaction that Ron has is very funny.

While it leads to a serious situation with Professor Slughorn, the initial moment of Ron acting almost drunk is very funny. Telling Harry that the moon is beautiful, as he then launches the box at him when Harry questions how he loves Romilda Vane, who Ron has never actually met.

Emotional Range Of A Teaspoon

Ron and Hermione

Anytime that Ron, Hermione, and Harry are shown simply hanging out and being friends is always a good time. It's actually quite rare to see them just act like school children. Therefore, the scene where Hermione explains why Cho is feeling conflicted after kissing Harry is a great one.

She starts out by explaining everything about Cho and what she's going through, and, when Ron questions how anybody could feel all that, Hermione comes out with a hilarious line. She simply says, "just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon," which leads to all three of them bursting out with laughter in a great moment.

Golden Egg Celebrations

Golden Egg

The Triwizard Cup brings a lot of difficult moments for Harry Potter, but it also sees the Gryffindor's really get behind him as a hero. They all begin to celebrate Harry and his efforts, wanting him to win, and that's never more clear after he gets the golden egg.

After his battle with the dragon, Harry takes the golden egg back to the common room where he celebrates with his supporters. They all lift him up and jump around as he opens the egg for the first time, only to hear it shriek.

Harry & Ron Resolve Their Issues

Ron Weasley

Following on from the big celebrations that Harry has inside the Gryffindor common room, he ends up having an emotional moment with Ron Weasley. The two of them have quite a tense friendship up until that point, having fallen out beforehand.

However, after this Ron makes up with his friend, admitting that he knows that Harry didn't put his own name in to compete in the Triwizard Cup. It's a great moment when they come back together, as nobody wants to see them not being friends.

Neville Stands Up To His Friends

Neville Longbottom

In the earlier movies, Neville is used in a fairly comedic manner, but, even from the very start, he is showcased as someone with amazing bravery and courage. When Harry, Ron, and Hermione attempt to sneak out of the common room, Neville is on hand to try and stop them in his teddy bear pajamas.

Neville doesn't want Gryffindor to lose any more house points, and he doesn't want them to get into trouble, showing what a team player he is. Neville literally attempts to fight them, in a hilariously cute manner, only for him to be frozen by Hermione. It's a funny scene, but also one that showcases what a brilliant person Neville is.

Tension With Seamus

Seamus and Harry Potter

For the most part, Seamus is a very polite and kind character who gets along with Harry throughout the entire franchise. But, after the death of Cedric Digory, there are a lot of people within the wizarding world who begin to believe that Harry is a liar when it comes to Lord Voldemort's return.

Not every moment in the common room can be a kind one, and this is an example of that. Seamus confronts Harry, admitting he was almost not allowed to return to Hogwarts, as he and Harry have a very tense confrontation with each other until Ron steps in to back up his friend.

Entering For The First Time

Gryffindor's

The very first time that Harry Potter and his fellow first-year group see the Gryffindor common room is a very important scene. Taking place during the first third of the first movie, the group of newly-sorted Gryffindor's are taken around Hogwarts to head to the common room, showcasing the moving stairs for the first time.

This is also the first time that they arrive to see that they have to enter through a painting, providing a password to get in. It's a great scene, and it just gives an overview glimpse as to what the common room is and how it looks, ending with Harry and Hedwig sat up awake, just taking it all in.

Merry Christmas, Harry

Ron and Harry opening presents at Christmas Harry Potter

There are many great Christmas-related scenes in Harry Potter which provide a warm and cozy feeling. One of the best is when Harry and Ron end up spending Christmas at Hogwarts, which ends up being the first real Christmas that Harry has.

He wakes up expecting to receive nothing and not really having much excitement, but, when Ron reveals that there's something under the tree for the Boy Who Lived, Harry's face lights up. He excitedly runs downstairs, and the two of them have a great time together, which is a fantastic, heartwarming scene.

Sirius Black In The Fire

Sirius Black

Sirius Black and Harry Potter have an incredible connection together, but they're not always able to be together due to the way most people view Sirius. Because of that, he has to be creative about how he communicates with Harry, and that includes him popping up in the fireplace of the Gryffindor common room.

Sirius' face pops up on a couple of occasions within the franchise, and, each time, he delivered important and valuable messages to Harry which helps him moving forwards. They're great scenes, with the first being incredibly clever as his face becomes part of the embers.
