If a new Reddit leak is to be believed, the long-rumored Harry Potter RPG is called Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy. Despite being one of Warner Brothers' most valuable franchises, Harry Potter hasn't had the same impact in the video game space as Batman or The Lord of the Rings. With the exception of mobile titles like Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, there hasn't been a notable video game set in the universe since the film series ended in 2011.

Back in 2018, footage surfaced of what appeared to be a large-scale Harry Potter RPG, but Warner Brothers provided no comment on the leak, and all excitement for the game quietly faded from the public eye. Nevertheless, video game enthusiasts and Harry Potter fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of any new information about the bewitchingly mysterious project.

Reddit user notexpectedbut claiming to be an employee of WB Marketing has released information online about the Harry Potter game, which they claim will be called Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy. In a large post, the Redditor revealed a slew of potential information about the game, though it's impossible to verify if this leak is legitimate or not.

Harry in the graveyard in Goblet of Fire

Whether anything in it is true or not, the Reddit post contains lots of information for Harry Potter fans to peruse and speculate over. According to the leak, Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy will be set decades in the future, after Harry Potter's children have graduated from the magic academy. The game's main villain is a former Death Eater, if not quite as powerful as Voldemort. Players will take on the role of a fifth year student at Hogwarts, and users can customize their appearance and whether they are full-born magic users, half-bloods, or muggle-born. Player choice will play a large role in the game, with decisions impacting how the story plays out. Additionally, the game features a revamped version of the Nemesis system from Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and is scheduled for current-gen and next-gen consoles, as well as PC.

Like with all rumors, there is zero evidence any of this is true. The post is riddled with grammatical errors and the "notexpectedbut" Reddit account was created just to post this rumor. Furthermore, Hogwarts: A Dark Legacy is a pretty generic title. Regardless, the post ends with the promise that WB is gearing up to formally unveil the game before August. With that in mind, Harry Potter fanatics eagerly awaiting news of the highly-anticipated unannounced RPG won't have to wait long to discover if any of this is true.
