Fred and George are some of the most beloved characters in Harry PotterTheir creative jokes, brilliant inventions, and heroic traits make them dynamic and fascinating characters. Moreover, the Weasley twins are also known for their sarcastic and witty sense of humor.

Even though they sometimes can come across as mean or obnoxious, in reality, they use humor as a coping mechanism. Fred and George's sarcastic remarks are often meant to diffuse uncomfortable situations - and it usually works. For all they try to appear cool on the outside, Fred and George are loyal and kind people who love fiercely.

When Fred And George Tried Their Products On Themselves

Ron: "I Can't See Any Boils."

Fred: "No, Well, You Wouldn't. They're Not In A Place We Generally Display To The Public."

George: "But It Makes Sitting On A Broom A Right Pain In The -"

When Ron, Fred, and George are brainstorming ideas to get out of Quidditch training, the twins suggest using one of their Skiving Snackboxes, a candy of their own invention that helps the user pretend they are sick so they can skip classes. Unfortunately, they can only use the Fever Fudge, which causes an uncomfortable side effect: "massive puss-filled boils".

Even though the Weasley twins eventually open a very successful store with joke items, at the beginning of their career they didn't have an easy time creating these them. Sadly, they had to try their products on themselves, which sometimes made it obviously hard to be sitting on a broom.

When Fred And George Try To Cheer Ginny Up

"We'll Send You A Hogwart's Toilet Seat!"

Ginny Weasly in Harry Potter

At the beginning of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry overhears a conversation between the Weasleys in which Ginny is crying because she doesn't get to go to Hogwarts yet. In an attempt to make her feel better, Fred and George promise to send her a lot of letters and a Hogwarts toilet seat.

Since Fred and George are constantly breaking Hogwart's rules, the readers are well aware that this couple of troublemakers are very capable of stealing a toilet seat from school and sending it to their little sister. Fortunately, they didn't honor their promise.

When Fred And George Didn't Get An "E" In All Their O.W.L's

‘“I’ve Always Thought Fred And I Should’ve Got “E” In Everything, Because We Exceeded Expectations Just By Turning Up For The Exams.’

In their fifth year at Hogwarts, all students are required to take their O.W.L exams, which can determine the rest of their magical careers. These exams have a specific grading scale:  "A" for Acceptable, "E" for "Exceeds Expectations" and "O" for "Outstanding".

Even though Fred and George are brilliant, they decide to use their smarts to create havoc instead of getting good grades at school. Every teacher at Hogwarts knows the Weasley twins are not especially inclined to the academic life, so they would indeed exceed expectations just by showing up to the exams.

When Percy Receives Twelve O.W.L.'s

"If We're Not Careful, We'll Have Another Head Boy In The Family. I Don't Think I Could Stand The Shame."

Percy Weasley in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

After Percy gets very good grades in his fifth year, the twins are afraid he's on his way to becoming a Head Boy, just like their brother Bill did. Funny enough, Percy does manage to become Head Boy two years later.

Fred and George are against any sort of title that recognizes and praises good behavior at school. They always make fun of Prefects - particularly of his brothers Percy and Ron. Even though some people may think the Weasley twins are mean, they don't actually mean harm with these jokes.

When The Weasley Twins Become Harry's Duplicates

"Well, None Of Us Really Fancy It, Mate. Imagine If Something Went Wrong, And We Ended Up A Scrawny Specky Git Forever."

When Harry needs to leave Private Drive, the Order of the Phoenix comes up with a plan for him to be able to escape safely. Some members of the Order will drink Polyjuice Potion and transform into Harry to confuse Voldemort and the Death Eaters. However, Harry is not too happy with the idea since it puts his friends at mortal risk.

Fred and George are known for their sassy comebacks, and this is one of their best ones. They perfectly defuse a tense situation with their hilarious sense of humor. Even though the comment didn't really amuse Harry, it gave the readers a good laugh.

When Fred And George Lie About Their Respective Identities

Fred: "I'm not Fred, I'm George. Honestly, woman, you call yourself our mother? Can't you tell I'm George?"

Mrs. Weasley: "Sorry, George, dear."

Fred: "Only joking, I am Fred."

In the first book, when the Weasley family is going through the barriers between Platforms Nine and Ten to get onto Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, Mrs. Weasley asks her son Fred to be the next one. In a typical Fred way, he messes with her mother's head and makes her believe he's actually his twin brother George.

When George Loses An Ear

"Saintlike. You See... I'm Hol(e)y, Fred, Geddit?"

During The Battle of the Seven Potters, George gets seriously wounded and loses his ear. When they arrive at the Burrow, Fred immediately gets closer to his brother to see how he's doing. Fortunately, George is doing well enough that he's even able to craft a pun about his injury.

Even though this is a bittersweet moment since George was seriously hurt, it's also one of the funniest moments in the series.  The Weasley twins demonstrate their heroic traits without leaving their characteristic sense of humor aside.

When Fred And George Were Left Out Of The Weasley Family

"What Are Fred And I, Next-Door Neighbors?"

When Ron is awarded the Prefect badge in his fifth year at Hogwarts, Mrs. Weasley can't contain her excitement. She congratulates him and exclaims, "a Prefect! That's everyone in the family!" obviously forgetting about her two troublemakers sons.

The Weasley family is composed of very talented people and most of them do become Prefects, except the twins and Ginny, who find their gifts better suited outside the academic life. Even though Fred and George are not cut out to be Prefects, they do use their creativity to become entrepreneurs.

When Harry Had A Lot Of Emotions To Express

"You Don’t Want To Bottle Up Your Anger Like That, Harry, Let It All Out. There Might Be A Couple Of People Fifty Miles Away Who Didn’t Hear You."

After Harry spends a whole month with the Dursleys without receiving any news from the magical worlds, he gets understandably upset. When he finally arrives at Grimmauld Place with his friends Ron and Hermione, he can't contain his feelings anymore and starts yelling at them.

Fred and George apparate to their room and try to calm the situation with a healthy dose of sarcasm. It seems to work since the teens move on to other topics, such as what's The Order of Phoenix up to, and how can they find out more information.

When Everyone Got Christmas Sweaters From Molly Weasley

"You Haven’t Got A Letter On Your [Sweater]. I Suppose She Thinks You Don’t Forget Your Name. But We’re Not Stupid – We Know We’re Called Gred and Forge."

Fred and George Weasley Goblet of Fire

As a Christmas tradition, Mrs. Weasley gifts Christmas sweaters to her sons and daughter (and Harry) every year. However, even though in the movies the sweaters always have letters on them, that's not the case in the books. Ron simply receives a plain maroon sweater.

Fred and George notice the difference and make fun of it. Since they're twins, it's possible that people often confuse them, so it's funny that they each get a sweater with their initials, as if they need to be labeled. However, knowing the twins, they would probably just exchange sweaters.
