The Fantastic Beasts movies have continued with the prevalent Harry Potter theme of friendship by introducing new characters and connections for audiences to love. The likes of Newt Scamander, Jacob Kowalski, Queenie Goldstein, and Tina Goldstein are a motley group, making them all the more likable and bringing to mind the young Golden Trio of Hogwarts.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione have been best friends since their first year at Hogwarts, and the series epilogue and Cursed Child have revealed that they stayed that way long into their lives. They are bound by their adventures together and the various lessons that they have learned. This is represented by various quotes in the Harry Potter series, which perfectly sum up the friendship shared within the Golden Trio.

"There Are All Kinds Of Courage."

Albus Dumbledore - Philosopher's Stone

When Dumbledore said this quote in Philosopher's Stone, he was talking about Neville's bravery in standing up to his friends, but it still perfectly sums up the Golden Trio in Harry Potter. While they are all three Gryffindors, the types of courage each displays are considerably different.

Hermione has the kind of courage that allows her to think things through, even under threat. Ron may have a naturally fearful nature, but he can quickly shut these feelings off when his friends are in need. Harry has a more traditional courage, which allows him to stand in the face of evil, despite his fear. Together, they prove that all types of bravery are valid and worthy of the Gryffindor name.

"You're Going To Be Eaten By A Giant Marshmallow."

Harry Potter - Prisoner Of Azkaban

The Harry Potter books contain far more ordinary, everyday moments, such as the Golden Trio's time in classes and doing homework. For many, these are some of the most enjoyable scenes since they really allow audiences to see these friends' special bond.

Sitting in their common room, Harry and Ron would often find silly ways to complete their Divination homework, making up hilarious predictions that left them laughing to tears. Hermione would look on disapprovingly, but even she couldn't help but crack a smile at some of their ridiculous answers.

"Don't Let The Muggles Get You Down."

Ron Weasley - Prisoner Of Azkaban

At Hogwarts, Ron would often feel jealous of Harry. The Boy Who Lived had fame that his friend could only dream of, and his mountain of gold in Gringotts meant he never wanted for anything (at least materialistically).

However, at home, it was Ron who was better off. He had a huge family, and love was in ample supply. Despite his jealousy, Ron was always generous in sharing his family with Harry and ready with encouragement when his friend had to return to his neglectful home.

"Just Because It's Taken You Three Years To Notice, Ron..."

Hermione Granger - Goblet Of Fire

While they were always friends, Ron and Hermione had many fights in Harry Potter. This was often because they had feelings for one another, and as they got older, those feelings became more and more troubling.

The start of this was in Goblet of Fire when Ron noticed that Hermione's relationship with Viktor Krum made him uncomfortable. It was the first time he realized his attraction for Hermione and a major part of their relationship going forward— ultimately affecting Harry as well.

"You Have The Emotional Range Of A Teaspoon..."

Hermione Granger - Order Of The Phoenix

While Goblet of Fire was the start of Ron's feelings for Hermione, it would take him several years to learn to communicate this. Love and romance were concepts somewhat out of his emotional reach, and Hermione was smart enough to recognize this.

In fact, Ron's lack of tact was a problem in both of his friendships since he struggled to empathize and often said the wrong thing. Through the experience of growing (and a little help from a book about personal charm gifted by his older brothers), Ron eventually figured things out, and both his friendships and romances improved as a result.

"You'll Never Know Love Or Friendship."

Some of the most impactful quotes in Harry Potter are about friendship, and it was the most valuable thing that Harry found at Hogwarts. Sure, being a wizard made Harry finally feel special, but his friends are what gave his life meaning and why he could ultimately defeat Voldemort.

The Dark Lord had never had a friend, and he didn't want one. But little did he know that the kind of love that comes from friendship, the type of love that existed within the Golden Trio, was exactly what set his enemy apart.

"Why Is It, When Something Happens, It's Always You Three?"

Minerva McGonagall - Hald-Blood Prince

Harry, Ron, and Hermione were good at finding trouble, but trouble was even better at finding them. The trio could hardly resist a mystery, but even when they tried to keep their heads down and focus on their school work, things went wrong.

Death Eaters, Draco Malfoy, and evil Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers were always around every corner, leading the Golden Trio to relay the events in either Snape, McGonagall, or Dumbledore's offices. It wasn't always their fault, but destiny ensured they were a part of the action.

"You Need Your Friends, Harry."

Albus Dumbledore - Half-Blood Prince

In Order of the Phoenix, Harry learned the contents of the prophecy and understood fully that it was his destiny to either take Voldemort down or die himself. This was a significant burden, and not wanting to worry his friends, he kept it to himself.

However, in Half-Blood Prince, Albus Dumbledore wisely tells Harry that he would not make it if he did not rely on his friends. Time would reveal that he was entirely correct, and by telling his friends what his future held, Harry strengthened their bond and ultimately ensured his future victory.

"We're With You Whatever Happens."

Ron Weasley - Half-Blood Prince

After Dumbledore died in Half-Blood Prince, the reality of the impending battle between Harry and Voldemort began to sink in. Harry's gut reaction was to take off on his own since the gravity of the quest's dangers made him fear for his friends.

This same desire to keep his friends safe would later lead to his sacrifice, but in the meantime, he needed Ron and Hermione to help him hunt down the Horcruxes. He would have never been able to do it without Hermione's brains and Ron's loyalty— ultimately, they all knew it.

"It's Me, I'm Extremely Famous."

The Harry Potter epilogue proved how lasting the Golden Trio's friendship is. Through marriages, children, and a few more adventures, they still managed to remain close in each other's lives.

It may be years after Harry's final battle with Voldemort, but the staring eyes of passers-by reveal that the wizarding world still remembers Harry's victory. The kids were confused by the stares, but Ron joked that it was because of him. This reaction shows just how far Ron has come with his jealousy, and Hermione's scoff reveals that their relationship is just the same as it had been in their school days. Their lives and perspectives changed, but the Golden Trio's friendship remained the same.
