The Harry Potter movies did well bringing the Boy Who Lived's story to the big screen, showcasing a variety of locations from the source material. One of the most popular and intriguing settings was Dumbledore's Office, home to the legendary Hogwarts headmaster. Several big scenes took place here, from Harry getting reassurances in the Chamber of Secrets to him taking a trip down Severus Snape's memory lane in the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

But not everything that happened in the books was brought to life on the big screen - which is understandable when so much happened in them. Here are 10 moments that were left out of the films, in chronological order.

Dippet And Riddle's Chat

Tom Riddle Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets

In the Chamber of Secrets, Harry sees a conversation take place between Albus Dumbledore and Tom Riddle in the Hogwarts Entrance Hall, shortly after Moaning Myrtle's body has been carried away from the scene. But this conversation actually occurs in Dumbledore's Office, before he even becomes headmaster.

Instead, Riddle and Armando Dippet talk things out - with the latter in charge of Hogwarts at the time. Riddle expresses a fear that Hogwarts will be shut if the person behind Mrytle's death isn't caught and he then proceeds to frame Rubeus Hagrid for the crime, with the loveable half-giant then being expelled as a result.

Overseeing The Trial

Bellatrix LeStrange Barty Crouch Jr Trial

The Goblet of Fire blockbuster sees Harry peer into Albus Dumbledore's Pensieve when he's in the Hogwarts headmaster's office. There, he witnesses the night Igor Karkaroff outed Barty Crouch Jr as a Death Eater to ensure his release from Azkaban prison. Yet the movie doesn't show the trial of David Tennant's character, merely the big reveal.

In the trial, Crouch Jr is fearful as the Dementors prey on his feelings of anguish, terror, and suffering. He shrieks as he's dragged away after being sentenced by his father for the horrific tortures of Frank and Alice Longbottom. In fact, the way he's described makes it seems as though he was just caught up with bad people. It's all an act, however, with the character really bad to the bone.

Explaining About Barty Crouch Sr.

Barty Crouch

In the fourth movie, Harry, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger stumble across the dead body of Barty Crouch Sr. while out for a stroll around the Forbidden Forest. The book is different, though, with Harry actually discovering an alive Crouch during a talk with Viktor Krum.

That's when he hastens towards Dumbledore's Office, eventually relaying his story to the Hogwarts headmaster. It's too late, however, with Krum being attacked and Crouch disappearing off into the night. It later emerges that Crouch Jr. murders his father while disguised as Alastor Moody and transfigures his body into a bone, in a scene that was perhaps too dark for the movies to show.

Snape And Sirius' Agreement

Snape confronting Sirius

After seeing Cedric Diggory die, escaping Lord Voldemort and narrowly avoiding death at the hands of Crouch Jr, Harry talks things over with Dumbledore in his office during the Goblet of Fire book. He's allowed to have godfather Sirius Black by his side, with the former Azkaban convict transformed into a giant shaggy dog to prevent the Ministry of Magic from arresting him on the spot.

When everything is ironed out, Dumbledore then makes Severus Snape and Sirius shake hands and move on. The pair had been fierce enemies before that but both agree to put their differences aside for the greater good. Relations remain tense, however, especially when Sirius is mocked for having to stay indoors all the time while the rest of the Order of the Phoenix members put their lives on the line.

Dolores Umbridge's Ban

Dolores Umbridge is one of the vilest characters in Harry Potter, arguably second to only Lord Voldemort himself. Her popularity is already low in the Order of the Phoenix prior to becoming Headmistress but, when she succeeds Dumbledore at the head of the school, it plummets even more.

She's so hated the Gargoyles guarding the office actually refuse to let her in, sending Umbridge into a huge rage. It ends up sealing itself off and the Ministry of Magic spy is forced to operate in her Defense Against the Dark Arts office instead, much to everybody's amusement. This detail is not in the movie.

Phineus Nigellus

Harry Potter

Phineus Nigellus is a character who appears in several of the Potter books. He's a portrait who hangs in two separate locations, with the first being 12 Grimmauld Place and the second being Dumbledore's office. For the most part, he sends messages using this route and he's often overhead making sly digs at Harry and anybody he sees fit.

Nigellus' portrait is taken down in the Deathly Hallows book by Hermione, who doesn't want him relaying hers, Harry and Ron's whereabouts to Snape. But with the former Potions Master undercover, the portrait is able to keep him in the loop. This is how Snape knows where to find them when he casts his doe Patronus, helping them recover Salazar Slytherin's Horcrux locket.

After Dumbledore's Death

Fans never really get to see what happens after Albus Dumbledore's death in the Half-Blood Prince movie. The book details how Minerva McGonagall holds a summit in the iconic wizard's old quarters, with fellow heads of houses Pomona Sprout, Horace Slughorn, and Filius Flitwick all attending - as well as Harry.

There, they talk over whether the school should remain open and also start arranging the funeral, which takes place the following day. It's an emotional experience for all involved, with the whole wizarding community distraught at such a substantial loss.

Snape Talking To The Portrait

The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 movie covers the majority of Snape's flashback scene - which is watched by Harry in the Pensieve within Dumbledore's office. But several minor scenes are missing, including one where the Potions Master seeks advice from his old friend's portrait.

The lines of the room are filled with the headmasters and headmistresses of years gone by and Dumbledore, despite his death, is able to give Snape encouragement as he plays the double agent.

Getting Applause

Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Harry takes Ron and Hermione to Dumbledore's office after his victory over Lord Voldemort, with the gargoyles standing aside to permit him entry. He's then shocked when he walks into the room and a huge noise breaks out, fearing the Dark Lord has returned once again. However, poignantly, it's actually every single portrait clapping him for his triumph over the world's darkest wizard.

Among them is Dumbledore himself, whose tears are seen rolling down his crooked nose. Harry would later campaign for Snape to get his portrait there, with his decision to flee his post prior to his death preventing him from getting one in the first place. It's a sweet tribute to the wizard, despite all his obvious flaws.

Telling Snape To Look Out For Quirrell

Also during Snape's flashback scene, there's a moment that highlights just how cool Albus Dumbledore is.

Without looking up from his desk, he tells the former Death Eater to 'look out for' Quirinus Quirrell. This suggests he knew the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher was in cahoots with Lord Voldemort all along, answering the question as to how he was able to be hoodwinked. Snape did a good job, for the most part, but let his guard down when Quirrell nearly obtained Nicolas Flamel's stone.
