There's little more that can be said about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 than what's been discussed before. It's the conclusion to a decade-old film franchise composed of eight financial blockbuster installments - and, judging by the final Deathly Hallows trailer, it definitely deserves to be labeled "epic."
Warner Bros. isn't done hyping the final chapter in the boy wizard's fantastical saga just yet, though, and has unveiled yet another featurette teasing the story behind Deathly Hallows: Part 2 - which, as you would surely imagine, boils down to the ultimate showdown between good and evil.
An earlier behinds-the-scenes look at Deathly Hallows: Part 2 wove together footage from not only all the previous Harry Potter films, but also of the original screen test with franchise staples Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson. If nothing else, the juxtaposition of scenes from different movies drove home the point about how much this series (and its young stars) has evolved and changed over the course of eight movies - and under the guidance of four different directors (Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, Mike Newell, and David Yates).
The latest Harry Potter featurette looks specifically at the grandiose action and battles that go down in the second half of Deathly Hallows - mixing interviews with some of the important players that worked on either side of the camera, with some tantalizing not-yet-revealed footage from some of the film's most memorable scenes.
Check out the new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 featurette (via Xfinity) below:
Fans who read the original Deathly Hallows novels are bound to get all the more excited by the glimpses of their favorite scenes brought to life on the big screen (the showdown between Mrs. Weasley and Bellatrix will definitely get a big reaction). More casual moviegoers should just be pleased to see even more proof that Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will deliver all the glorious, effects-driven action they could want from a summer movie - not to mention, a thrilling climax, as Harry (Radcliffe) and Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) battle one another to the death.
One thing worth mentioning: If the previously-shown pieces of Deathly Hallows: Part 2 footage didn't convince you that the movie probably will look rather murky in 3D, the material in this new featurette should do the trick. With so much of the film (which wasn't shot in the 3D format anyway) being set at night or taking place underground, it's at times difficult to make out details while watching in 2D at home - much less, in a darkened auditorium with 3D glasses on.
Of course, if you're set on watching the final Harry Potter film in IMAX 3D so you can enjoy it in the most grand-scale format possible, then more power to you.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will finally hit theaters on July 15th, 2011.
