From flying a car into the Whomping Willow tree and frolicking through the Forbidden Forest to sneaking past a three-headed dog, it is nearly impossible to get kicked out of Hogwarts. Once you become a student, the point-system and the rules simply mean nothing.
However, this may be because the students of Hogwarts didn’t have access to social media to document their mischievous behavior.
Lucky for us, though, the actors who portrayed the students in Harry Potter do have social media accounts and over the years they have posted photos that definitely would have gotten them in trouble with the Headmaster.
Although the students of Hogwarts enjoyed their glass of Butterbeer every now and then, the actors that played them preferred the harder stuff. They’ve grown up from the kids you once knew on the big screen, and have exposed their naughtier side.
These photos expose the kids for using drugs, getting drunk, and partying all through the night. They're enough to get the students of Hogwarts expelled, and with hard evidence, the Headmaster wouldn't be able to turn his cheek this time.
So, don’t tell Dumbledore – here are the 15 Photos That Would’ve Gotten The Cast Of Harry Potter Kicked Out of Hogwarts.
15 Mind If I Slither In?
Tom Felton, the actor who plays Draco Malfoy, posted this photo of him and Rupert Grint sporting a “Mind If I Slither In” T-shirt on his Instagram profile. The photo was part of an advertisement to show their fans a new Harry Potter must-have. However, Dumbledore certainly wouldn’t approve of this message.
Although a hilarious take on the house of Salazar Slytherin, we don’t think Dumbledore would find the shirt’s play-on-words funny. He may potentially see it as defying the history, culture, and values of the Slytherin House.
Not only does the shirt mock one of the four houses, but Rupert Grint is clearly defying his house by wearing it. Sorted into the House of Gryffindor, his character, Ron Weasley should never be seen wearing a shirt that supports the Slytherins.
14 The Drunk Weasleys
In the United Kingdom, alcohol is an important part of culture – as soon as you can drink it, you will drink it. So, there’s no doubt that the cast of Harry Potter would indulge in some drinks every now and then.
This photo showcases a wonderful family reunion between Rupert Grint, or Ron Weasley, and his on-screen brothers, James and Oliver Phelps, better known as Fred and George Weasley.
Taken in November 2006, the photo was likely taken during the shooting of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Although it provides documented evidence of the Weasley brothers partying, it also shows us just how close the on-screen family was, and instills in us a sense of family and brother goals.
13 Little Ginny Weasley Partying It Up
Looking through Bonnie Wright’s Instagram, it’s clear to see that she loves three things: traveling, drinking, and partying. These photos are just a sample of some of the incriminating photos on her Instagram that the Headmaster could use to expel little Ginny Weasley for partying and drinking.
Since filming Harry Potter, Bonnie Wright has been up to a lot. She continued acting, indulged in some modeling, and tried her hand at directing. Wright has also since moved from London to California. However, based on her Instagram, it seems as though she has been partying her way around the world.
Little Ginny Weasley is all grown up and now she spends her free time sipping cocktails on the beaches of Ibiza, trying Pisco Sours in Peru, partying with rosé fountains, and relaxing with beers at international airports.
12 The Weasley Twins Planking at Baggage Claim
Now Fred and George Weasley were probably two Hogwarts students who were most likely to be expelled. However, from setting off Weasley Wildfire Whiz-bangs throughout the school to creating a portable swamp, the twins were never kicked out of Hogwarts.
But, would the Headmaster be as lenient if the twins acted up in the Muggle World?
James Phelps, the actor who plays Fred Weasley, posted this Timehop image on Instagram on July 17th, 2015 – six years after it was taken. The photo shows what looks like one of the Weasley twins and their brother, Ron planking on the baggage claim belt during a Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince promo tour.
Even though planking was all the rage back then, would Dumbledore want his students acting up in the Muggle World?
11 Evanna Lynch Partying the Night Away
She told her Instagram followers, “I’m different now and need to honour that and challenge myself to create something else, something from the person I am today. I feel like I’m stuck in my 18-year-old self artistically when I have a lot more to say."
Well, Evanna Lynch did it. You can hardly even recognize her as the quirky, Luna Lovegood from her Instagram photos – particularly this one that shows her dancing and partying it up with her “GBF”, or Gay Best Friend.
The term comes from Lynch’s role in the movie GBF. Since Harry Potter, she has been in My Name is Emily and a television movie titled Danny and the Human Zoo.
But would Hogwarts approve of her transformation, and would Dumbledore be okay with her partying late at night?
10 Devon Murray Smoking on the Set of Harry Potter
At the age of 13, Devon Murray was photographed smoking on the set of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The photo was reposted through many media outlets and many fans, as well as their parents, were disgusted by the image of a young boy smoking.
Devon Murray was ultimately chastised by Warner Brothers and definitely would have been kicked out of Hogwarts had he been a real student attending the school.
The photo was the last straw for Murray’s mom, who felt that Murray’s agent, Neil Brooks didn’t do enough to keep the image out of the public’s eye. She also clashed with Brooks about Devon living in a hotel instead of an apartment, and after the photo was made public, she fired the agent.
This backfired though when Brooks sued for the money he was owed, and Murray had to pay his agent $300,000 in dues.
9 Bottoms Up with Cho Chang
Katie Leung played Cho Chang, Harry Potter’s love interest throughout most of the series. As one of the most notable Ravenclaws, she played an innocent student on film, but admits to enjoying the party life off-camera.
Leung said, “During my teenage years, I did enjoy partying a lot. Hong Kong was a great place to party. I enjoyed the weather and it was bustling, with so much culture. I went four times in a year which is pretty insane given it is a 16-hour flight from Scotland.”
Leung’s incriminating photo was posted on her Instagram during the summer of 2012 and shows her enjoying shots with her “Wild Swans Family."
Leung stared in Wild Swans, a theatrical adaptation of a novel about three generations of Chinese women living in the Communist Revolution in China.
8 Bonnie Wright Smooching
Wait a minute – that’s not Harry Potter. Everyone remembers Ginny Weasley’s kiss with Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
According to Bonnie Wright, the scene took two days to film and about 30 takes. When asked what it was like to kiss Daniel Radcliffe, Wright responded, “Strange! We’ve known each other so long. That was weird – having to look at someone in a different way. Surprisingly, on the actual day it all seemed to be okay. You just kind of treat it like any other scene. That sounds silly and probably boring to other! But I think in order to make it realistic, you have to just go for it!”
Well, Wright had no problem going for these kisses that she shared on her Instagram account. They seem more genuine than her kiss with Potter and probably less "strange" to her.
But if Finch had caught Ginny Weasley kissing like this in the halls of Hogwarts, she definitely could have been kicked out of school.
7 James Phelps Pouring His Vodka
The Weasley twins pulled many pranks during their years at Hogwarts. They were never kicked out, but if their shenanigans had been paired with all the drinking and partying that the Phelps twins indulged in off-screen, they definitely would have been candidates for expulsion.
There are many images floating around the Internet of the Phelps twins sipping on cocktails, taking shots, and downing drinks. The two are constantly spotted at bars and sometimes the fans even buy them more drinks.
During an interview the Phelps brothers said, “Going to a pub or a bar now, cause those guys who grew up watching the films are now going to clubs and everything like that, so we get it quite a bit there. We get a few drinks bought for us… cause we’re good guys, it’s fine. We were out with Tom Felton last year actually and this guy was very like ‘hmm.. you’re Draco, don’t know if I like you or not.’”
6 Perfect Hermione Granger Kicking Back with A Beer
As Hermione Granger would say, “It’s Coron-ah not Coron-aw.” Emma Watson is one of the sweetest and remarkable women of all time. She’s a passionate feminist and a UN Ambassador for Women. However, every now and then, even the greatest of us have to sit down and relax with a nice cold beer.
Although she’s not going wild in the photo, it’s definitely a stark contrast from the perfect Hermione Granger who we’ve come to know and love.
Maybe a surprising photo like this could finally disrupt the perfect image of Miss Granger and get her kicked out of school. However, then again, Hermione did get away with using the Time Turner to take extra classes, so what’s a beer or two here and there?
5 Harry Potter Drinking More than Just Butterbeer
Memes of The Boy Who Lived have circulated all over the Internet – and it’s not just Butterbeer that he’s drinking.
Daniel Radcliffe has admitted to arriving to the set of Harry Potter films still drunk from partying the night before. He told Heat magazine, “I can honestly say I never drank at work on Harry Potter. I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work … I can point to many scenes where I’m just gone. Dead behind the eyes.”
Radcliffe recalls drinking so much that he would black out, and according to him, it was just his thing.
Many fans and paparazzi have caught Radcliffe in these moments and the images have swarmed the Internet, giving anyone at Hogwarts enough ammo to kick Mr. Potter out of school.
4 Half-Naked Neville
Out of all the students that attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, puberty was the nicest to Matthew Lewis.
From nerdy Neville Longbottom to half-naked model, Matthew Lewis is definitely too hot for Hogwarts to handle.
This photo covered the June 2015 issue of Attitude magazine and even J.K. Rowling couldn’t handle the heat. She tweeted Lewis saying, “I will always support you whatever you want to do, Matthew. Now go put some clothes on."
Lewis also re-posted the photo on his Instagram account with the caption “A ‘regram’ (is that what they call it) from the one and only @josephsinclair. That boy got mad skillz with the camera."
However, despite the cameraman’s “mad skillz," you can’t photoshop that 10-pack. If Lewis had walked down the halls of Hogwarts looking like this, he probably would have been expelled, but he would’ve definitely gotten more screen time.
3 Robert Pattinson's Behind-the-Scenes Drug Deal
Before Robert Pattinson was a teen heartthrob and sparkling vampire, he was Cedric Diggory, a Hufflepuff at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He ultimately died during the Triwizard Tournament, but if he had survived, he probably would have been kicked out of school for this incriminating photo.
The photo, posted on November 17th, 2013 to the Facebook page of Hollywood composer, Mario Fanizzi, was captioned “With my bro Robert Pattinson that looks just like my bro Carlo Meccariello.”
Although it looks like an innocent photo, on closer look, you can see a person passing a small plastic bag with white powder to someone behind Fanizzi and Pattinson. This, mixed with Pattinson’s glassy-eyed appearance and previous cocaine accusations, sparked rumors that Pattinson has a drug problem.
Although it’s all circumstantial, would this photo be incriminating enough for the Headmaster to throw out Cedric Diggory?
2 Emma Watson's Scandalous Vanity Fair Shoot
Maturing from Hermione to Belle in @beautyandthebeast is a true coming-of-age story for @EmmaWatson: "I couldn't care less if I won an Oscar or not if the movie didn’t say something that I felt was important for people to hear." Read the full cover story at the link in bio. Photograph by Tim Walker.
From Hermione Granger to Belle, Emma Watson has grown up to become a beautiful woman and it’s very clear from this photo.
Earlier this year, the actress who played brainy Hermione Granger, posed nearly topless for a photo shoot for Vanity Fair magazine. However, not everyone was impressed. One photo in particular with Watson wearing nothing but a caged Burberry cape, sparked comments from critics who said the photo defies Watson’s feminist credentials.
In response, Waton said, “It just always reveals to me how many misconceptions and what a misunderstand there is about what feminism is. Feminism is about giving women choice… I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it. It’s very confusing."
Watson defended the shoot, but would Albus Dumbledore have defended the photo and Watson's choice of words had she been attending Hogwarts?
1 Seamus Finnigan's Goals
Devon Murray, the actor who played Gryffindor wizard, Seamus Finnigan, traded the Gryffindor values of bravery, daring, nerve and chivalry for drinks, cars, and girls – and we don’t think Professor McGonagall would be too pleased with the substitutions.
According to Devon Murray, these three elements summed up his life. However, the drinks, cars, and girls didn’t last long. Murray eventually ran out of money to support his lifestyle.
According to his mother, “He was a teenage boy. He went drinking. He went out with girls. He bought cars.”
Because of his pursuit of happiness, Seamus quickly blew through the million dollars he received from Harry Potter and found himself in trouble when his agent, Neil Brooks sued him in 2016 for about $300,000 in unpaid fees.
Although the court ruled in Brooks' favor, Murray didn’t miss the opportunity to shoot out an ironic tweet during the trial to make fun of his Playboy lifestyle. It read “DRINK!!! CARS!!! GIRLS!!! #FatherDevon."
He also tweeted the photo above, recalling a time he spent at Oxegen, a music festival in Ireland.
