From August 31st, the Harry Potter movies will no longer be streaming on HBO Max, and fans are extremely disappointed. This is one of the most famous franchises, with millions of fans all over the world, and no matter how many times they watch these films, they never grow tired of them.

Hogwarts is not only a magical school but a home to those who need one. Most magical children spend a significant amount of their year in this castle, but only those who don't have a place of their own appreciate the true value of Hogwarts. In the same way, Potterheads take refuge within these walls and let go of real-life problems, and like Dumbledore once said, "help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it."

As everyone knows, Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff were a group of powerful wizards who decided to create the best magic school in the whole world. They were also the best of friends but had strong differences in what kind of students they should teach.

In spite of their differences, Hogwarts' founders managed to accomplish their goal. Still, if they had put their differences asides, there may not be such strong rivalry between the houses, particularly Slytherin and Gryffindor.

A lot of wizards consider Hogwarts to be their second home, or in some cases, their only home. But some people would be surprised to find out that this was the same for the evilest wizard alive, Lord Voldemort. Though it seems Voldemort is incapable of having feelings of love, he probably did love this castle.

However, that didn't stop him from destroying the school in the Battle of Hogwarts. Still, Hogwarts held a powerful influence over Tom Riddle's life to the point where most of the Horcruxes are important objects from the school. Not for nothing, Riddle was one of Hogwarts' best students.

Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

After the Basilisk attacks, Lucius Malfoy convinces the school governors to suspend Dumbledore's duties as Headmaster, for which he's removed from the school premises. However, aware that Harry and Ron were hiding under the invisibility cloak, he uttered that they wouldn't be completely gone and that they would always have help.

Harry and Ron found little consolation in these words since they had lost Hermione, Hagrid, and Dumbledore. However, the Headmaster's words turned out to be true; when Harry confronted the Basilisk, helped arrived when he needed it. Fawkes helped him fight the Basilisk, gave him Gryffindor's sword, and healed Harry from the Basilisk's powerful venom.

Sirius Black, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Sirius Black kneels and talks to Harry Potter in Order of the Phoenix

This quote appears in The Prisoner of Azkaban film when Harry and Sirius share a moment. Harry had just learned Sirius was his godfather, and the two of them thought they would be able to finally live together. Sirius looks up to Hogwarts castle and mentions its beauty and how he would never forget attending this school.

Sirius had a terrible life at home, so it's not surprising that, just like Harry, Hogwarts was his comfort place. It must have been a deeply nostalgic moment for Sirius to go back to the only place he had ever called home after spending twelve years in Azkaban. Sadly, after this scene, Sirius is forced to live as a fugitive and, later, go back to Grimmauld Place.

"Hoggy Warty Hogwarts Teach Us Something, Please."

Hogwarts' Song, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

At the end of Harry's first Welcoming Feast, all Hogwarts students sing the school's song. The song lyrics demand that Hogwarts teach everything they need to its students, no matter their age or status. The best part of it is that everyone gets to sing it at their own rhythm just like most people learn at their own pace.

Hogwarts is a home for a lot of students, but more importantly, it's a place to learn. Even though a lot of Hogwarts' teachers don't make the best decisions, the school still teaches young wizards how to control their magic and use it in the best possible way.

"I Would Never Dream Of Assuming I Know All Hogwarts' Secrets."

Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Richard Harris as Dumbledore

When Karkaroff tells Dumbledore that he's proud he's the only one who knows about Dumstrang's secrets, Dumbledore replies that he would never dream of knowing every Hogwarts secret. Then, he tells him about finding a room full of bathrooms when he needed to take a tinkle. Funny enough, it was probably the Room of Requirements, one of the most important rooms at Hogwarts.

Hogwarts is a large mysterious place with a lot of ancient magic. Every founder of the school left his mark, and not everyone knows everything about the castle. Dumbledore didn't even know about the Basilisk's hiding place, and it is still a mystery how many other secrets Hogwarts holds within its walls.

Harry in the Chamber of Secrets

After Harry's first year at Hogwarts, he has to go back with his aunt and uncle during the summer break. This is understandably disheartening for the young boy, who had already experienced what it felt like to live in a place where he was loved and cared for and had to go back to his relatives' neglect.

Not only did Harry's family make his life a living hell, but he was also forbidden from contacting his friends and from even doing his homework. Fortunately, Ron saves him from his isolation, and eventually, his time at Privet Drive becomes better, with the Dursleys being afraid of him.

"Our Hogwarts Is In Danger From External, Deadly Foes."

The Sorting Hat, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

The Sorting Hat

At the beginning of Harry's fifth school year, the Sorting Hat warns the school about the dangers ahead of them. Since Voldemort had returned to life before the summer break, the whole wizarding world is under his threat. Although The Sorting Hat is the one who selects each student's house, he recommends they unite and defeat the bad forces together.

It may be an unpopular opinion, but Hogwarts' house system is way too prejudiced. It makes sense that the Sorting Hat wants to eliminate the boundaries between the students, for only together they will be able to survive Voldemort's reign of horror. Unfortunately, in spite of the Sorting Hat's efforts, Slytherin still remains an outsider during the Battle of Hogwarts.

"Hogwarts Is Threatened! Man The Boundaries, Protect Us!"

Professor McGonagall, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

In one of the most epic moments in the Harry Potter franchise, Professor McGonagall enchants the school statues and orders them to help protect the school against Voldemort and the Death Eaters. This was a great idea since the school is filled with them, and she even includes the ones that are shaped like animals.

When the Battle of Hogwarts initiates, one of the most important places in magical society is threatened: Hogwarts. The one place that is a home for all wizards, and there's something oddly poetic about the school itself protecting the castle.

Hogwarts at Night - Harry Potter

When Harry is on his way to sacrifice himself, he sees Ginny while standing under the invisibility cloak and wishes he could go home. However, he immediately realizes he already is home because Hogwarts was the home of every child who had a terrible family life, just like Severus Snape, Tom Riddle, and Sirius Black.

It's unfortunate that Harry has to experience war and death in the place that made him the happiest. However, Hogwarts is still Harry's first home, and as such, a very important and special place.
