The magical world of Harry Potter continues to captivate its readers and audience even though the first book came out well over 20 years ago. One of the many reasons for its popularity is the multiple great characters that play an important part in the series. And not just the main trio - Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Also their friends, enemies, classmates, relatives, etc.

Even though the main storyline focuses on Harry's fight against evil, most often Voldemort, there are also plenty of memorable romances available in Harry Potter. Some of them lasted for a long time, others ended fairly quickly - but none of them should be forgotten.

James And Lily

Geraldine Somerville as Lily Potter and Adrian Rawlins as James Potter in Harry Potter's memory.

Considering they looked significantly older in the movies, it's easy to forget the tragic fate Lily and James met. They died when they were very young - only in their early twenties - and they have barely started their life together as a family. Still, it seems like they made the most of the time they had together. And it's clear from the few mementos and memories about them shared in the series that they loved each other very much.

Bill And Fleur

Bill and Fleur

When Fleur first appeared on the scene, the audience (or readers) didn't get to see much of her. Yes, she was beautiful and capable - otherwise, she wouldn't have competed in the Triwizard Tournament - but that was about it. However, Fleur later proved there was more to her than just her pretty face. When Bill got injured by the werewolf Fenrir Greyback and scarred for life, Fleur stood by him and the young couple made it work even in long term. They got married and had three children together.

Molly And Arthur

Honestly, it's no wonder that Bill was able to build a long-term relationship with Fleur. After all, he had an excellent example in his parents' relationship. Molly and Arthur were high school sweethearts who stayed together. They faced many difficulties, not just those of financial nature, but persevered. Not every couple would be able to survive the loss of their child but Arthur and Molly did. They also always treated each other in a kind and understanding way.

Cedric And Cho

Cedric and Cho

Cedric and Cho is another example of a tragic couple who deserved much better. It was clear from Cho's behavior after Voldemort had killed Cedric that she cared deeply about the young man.

Who knows - they might have stayed together and gotten married? But it wasn't meant to be. Either way, they were both beautiful, talented, popular among their fellow students, and seemed to have enjoyed each other's company.

Vernon And Petunia

Petunia, Vernon, and Dudley Dursley from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Yes, it's true that both Vernon and Petunia are despicable people who treat Harry in an awful way. However, if one looks at it from a different perspective, it becomes clear these two are a match made in heaven (or, more likely, in hell). They both have the same serious character errors, and they complement each other. They make other people miserable but Vernon and Petunia seem quite - if not happy - then at least content together. At least their son Dudley became more reasonable in the end and his family and Harry's stayed in touch.

Remus And Nymphadora

Remus Lupin Nymphadora Tonks Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows Hands

Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks had a complicated relationship in the series. It's true that they didn't always make each other happy. Remus distanced himself from Nymphadora because he was a werewolf and didn't want her to have to face problems. She, in return, suffered because of his rejections and was stressed. However, it's possible to see where they were both coming from. And, in the end, they pulled together and also stayed that way until they died.

Minerva McGonagall And Elphinstone Urquart

Maggie Smith As Minerva McGonagall In Harry Potter

Very little was revealed about McGonagall's personal life in the books so the interested audience has to rely on other sources. And these sources made it obvious her life wasn't easy. She was engaged to a Muggle when she was young but they separated in the end. Minerva married a fellow wizard Elphinstone in the end, who courted her for a long time.

They seemed happy together but, unfortunately, Elphinstone died only three years after their marriage. As far as the fans know, she never remarried afterward and also didn't have children.

Andromeda And Ted

Andromeda and Ted Tonks in Harry Potter

Another couple that mostly stayed behind the scenes but deserves more attention is Andromeda and Ted Tonks - Nymphadora's parents. They're a clear example of the fact that love sometimes overcomes even societal differences. Unlike her sisters Narcissa and Bellatrix, Andromeda was much more open-minded. She fell in love with a Muggle and married him. She knew it would mean separating herself from her family, so it's clear she must have loved Ted very much to do such a drastic step.

Draco And Astoria

Tom Felton As Draco Malfoy In Harry Potter

Not much is known about Draco Malfoy's future wife Astoria Greengrass - besides the fact that she also came from a pure-blood family. Apparently, Draco's parents didn't approve of him marrying Astoria but he did so nonetheless. Draco wasn't always the friendliest person - to put it mildly - but he and Astoria still managed to raise their son Scorpius as a good guy. So it's safe to assume that this couple couldn't have been so bad after all, otherwise, their child wouldn't have turned out well.

Luna And Rolf

Finally, it's time to shed some more light on a couple that remains in the background of the Harry Potter world - but potentially has all it needs to be amazing. Luna Lovegood is a kind-hearted and friendly person, albeit a bit eccentric one. The same can be said for the famous wizard Newt Scamander. Luna ended up marrying Newt's grandson Rolf, and is Rolf is anything like his grandfather, it's safe to presume that he and Luna will have similar personalities and be a good match.
