The Harry Potter movies definitely did a good job of bringing the story of the Boy Who Lived to the big screen, giving Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint their big career breaks in the process. But, that said, Warner Bros couldn't contain every little tidbit of information from the source material.

The blockbusters gave us double acts galore, from comedy figures such as Fred and George Weasley to grunting trolls like Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. However, there's still plenty of best friend pairings that didn't get shown to the world. So we'll now take a look at 10 who were omitted.

Parvati and Lavender

Lavender Brown in Harry Potter

Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown both appear in the Potter movies. The former cameos in the Prisoner of Azkaban before then accompanying Harry Potter to the Yule Ball during the events of the Goblet of Fire, accepting the Boy Who Lived's invite after he'd been rejected by Cho Chang. Lavender, meanwhile, dates Ron in the Half-Blood Prince before their relationship ends under a cloud.

Yet while that's the case, the duo doesn't share the screen together. They're thick as thieves during the books, with both big admirers of Professor Trelawney despite her questionable methods of teaching Divination. Pavarti consoles her friend when her rabbit dies and they're close right up until Lavender is tragically killed during the Battle of Hogwarts.

Seamus and Dean

Fans see Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas sitting together during the early moments of the Order of the Phoenix. Movie fans also know they share a common room. But only true fans of JK Rowling's novel are aware of just how close they are.

Upon meeting, they immediately become best friends. Dean is muggle-born but he's invited to the Quidditch World Cup in the summer of 1994, where they witness Ireland beating Bulgaria to land the prestigious trophy. Fans loved the duo so much they were even shipped together and Devon Murray tweeted they could get married when same-sex marriage was legalized in May 2015.

Ginny and Luna

Ginny Weasley Luna Lovegood Harry Potter

Also in the Order of the Phoenix, fans are introduced to the character of Luna Lovegood for the first time. It's Ginny Weasley who does the introducing and, to the likes of Harry, Ron, and Hermione, Luna is an oddity. She soon grows on them, however, and becomes an established member of their little gang.

Luna remarks in the books that she's always liked Ginny because she was kind to her. The feeling seems to be mutual, with Ginny refusing to criticize her friend no matter how bizarre her beliefs and personality are. That's sweet because, if Luna didn't have her, she'd have likely been far more isolated than she already was.

Cho Chang And Marietta Edgecombe

Cho Chang smiling gently in Harry Potter

We've already mentioned Cho above. In the movies, she's sometimes seen with a crew of giggling girls who love Harry's attempts at striking up a conversation, with the Chosen One certainly out of his depth on that front. But what's not revealed is her bond with Marietta Edgecombe, a fellow Ravenclaw student at Hogwarts.

Marietta is actually the one who snitches on the creation of Dumbledore's Army to Dolores Umbridge, giving the loathsome Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher the proof she needs to arrest Albus Dumbledore himself. She's left permanently scarred after this, though, with Hermione performing an enchantment that sees the word 'sneak' etched onto her forehead. Pretty brutal stuff...

Draco and Pansy Parkinson

Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, Greggory Goyle, and Pansy Parkinson from the Harry Potter series.

Sure, Draco was definitely closer to Crabbe and Goyle during their time at Hogwarts. He ordered them around and they seemed to lap it up, being grateful to be given the chance to bully other pupils. But Malfoy was also close to Pansy Parkinson, who only makes brief cameos in the movies.

Pansy was so close to Malfoy she comforts him after his 'attack' by Buckbeak the Hippogriff, and she backed him when he stole Neville Longbottom's Rememberall. The Slytherin student spends plenty of time crooning over Draco but nothing romantic ever came of their relationship, with Malfoy instead marrying somebody else after the Battle of Hogwarts.

Fred, George And Lee Jordan

Lee Jordan doing the Quidditch commentary in Harry Potter

Fred and George are a big double act in the movies. They spend literally every scene together, causing mayhem and bringing some much-needed comic relief during the darkest of moments. But the films don't show their friendship with Lee Jordan, who only appears in the Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets.

Lee is a Quidditch commentator but he's far more than that in the books. He often assists Fred and George with their mischief-making and, when they fly away from Hogwarts and leave him behind, he's crushed. Lee ends up working at Weasley's Wizard Wheezes following the events of the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and he fights Death Eaters when they try to storm Hogwarts, bringing down some of them in the process.

Colin Creevey and Dennis Creevey

Colin Creevey Harry Potter

Yes, we're fully aware that Colin Creevey and Dennis Creevey are siblings. But that doesn't mean they can't be best friends at the same time and, when the latter joins Hogwarts at the beginning of the Goblet of Fire and gets sorted into Gryffindor, they're delighted to be able to spend so much time in each other's company.

Dennis falls into the Lake on his way into the school but shrugs it off. He and Colin both join Dumbledore's Army and both are punished when the organization's existence is uncovered.

Hannah Abbott and Ernie Macmillan

Ernie Macmillan talking in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Hufflepuff students don't really get much screentime throughout the Potter movies, Cedric Diggory in the Goblet of Fire aside. And that's a crying shame because there are some golden characters in that house, including Hannah Abbott and Ernie Macmillan.

Ernie is somewhat pompous but means well and, respectably, sides with Harry at a time where many are against the Boy Who Lived. Hannah, meanwhile, is a polite and caring individual who doesn't do anything major of note. Both appear in a deleted scene in the Chamber of Secrets but, given that failed to make it into the movies, fans of solely the movies can be forgiven for being unaware of their existence.

Dobby And Winky

Dobby Harry Potter

Dobby appears in both The Chamber of Secrets and Deathly Hallows: Part 1, tragically dying at the end of the latter after being stabbed by Bellatrix Lestrange. But one character who doesn't make a single appearance is Winky, a house-elf who used to belong to Barty Crouch Sr.

Upon being unfairly let go, Winky lands a job at Hogwarts. She's a blubbering wreck most of the time, getting drunk off Butterbeer, but Dobby helps her adjust to her new surroundings and does his utmost to make her feel right at home. Even now we're still sad he didn't survive the second wizarding war, with his huge heart making him loved by millions across the world.

Michael Corner And Terry Boot

Terry Boot

Like the Hufflepuff students, Ravenclaw's also got a pretty raw deal when it came to the movies. Cho and Luna aside, the majority are shunted aside. Michael Corner cameos in the Order of the Phoenix but Terry Boot doesn't make it in the blockbuster at all.

They're a double act in the books, siding with each other and also spending most of their time hanging out together. Ultimately, their absences from the movies wasn't a big deal because neither do anything of note. But, even so, we felt they deserved to be on this list.
