Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Harley Quinn season 3.The Harley Quinn season 3 finale leaves plenty of room for season 4, which is good news for fans of the adult animated series' future. The future of many DC shows has been unclear after the recent decision by Warner Bros. Discovery to focus on theatrical releases over television programming resulting in the cancelation of multiple projects. However, Harley Quinn season 3 has performed well and has a cult following.

Originally produced for the short-lived DC Universe streaming service, Harley Quinn was a hit with both comic fans and critics. The show followed the misadventures of the psychiatrist turned sidekick, as she tried to get out from under the thumb of the Joker and prove herself as a solo supervillain with her own gang of misfits. Despite being largely comedic in tone, the series is notable for having dramatic character development, with a serious romance blooming between Harley and her best friend, Poison Ivy.

Harley Quinn season 3 focused on Harley and Ivy and their relationship problems, as the two tried to reconcile Harley's realization that she was an anti-hero rather than a straight-up villain. This set the stage for a major shake-up for a Harley Quinn season 4, with all the members of Harley's gang heading in new directions. However, the greatest challenges may await Harley herself, who must now work alongside the Bat Family she fought for so long.

Harley Quinn season 4 has been confirmed and is already in production. While there was concern the show might be in danger given a recent round of lay-offs at HBO Max and in the WarnerMedia animation division, Harley Quinn season 4 was announced long before the season 3 finale. Luckily for Harley Quinn fans, the cuts seem to have largely left the adult animated programming untouched.

Harley Quinn Season 4 Story Predictions

Harley Quinn Season 3 Batgirl Robin and Nightwing

The finale of Harley Quinn season 3 took a page from the Batman graphic novel White Knight, with a newly elected Mayor Joker arresting Bruce Wayne for tax evasion. This left Gotham City's heroes under the command of Batgirl, as Harley Quinn made the decision to join the Bat Family as a full-time crime-fighter. This seems sure to result in tension between Harley and Poison Ivy, who was tapped by Lex Luthor to lead a new Legion of Doom based in Gotham City. While the couple may have agreed to respect one another's boundaries in regard to work, the reality may be that Ivy's willingness to cross lines Harley won't will inevitably lead to trouble. Beyond that, Harley Quinn season 4 will likely explore Clayface's newfound success as an actor (albeit with the world thinking he's Billy Bob Thornton) and Nanaue truly becoming King Shark after claiming the throne of his father's undersea kingdom.

Harley Quinn Season 4 Cast & Crew Updates

Harley Quinn Season 3 Finale With Bat

Harley Quinn season 4 will have a new creative team running the show, with consulting producer Sarah Peters taking over the executive producer and showrunner duties from Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker. The show's animation will also undergo a leadership change, with supervising director Ceci Aranovich taking over as animation lead. This shouldn't shake up the show at all, given both Peters and Aranovich were involved in producing the first three seasons of Harley Quinn.
