In a recent interview, Harley Quinn season 3 star Harvey Guillén responds to some jokes made by fans in response to his casting as the show's Nightwing, who is famous for his bubble but in the DC universe. The animated series initially premiered in November 2019 on DC's now-defunct streaming service, DC Universe, to immensely positive reviews from critics and viewers alike. That praise continued with the release of Harley Quinn season 2 in April 2020, now on HBO Max. Season 3 is set for release on July 28.

Harley Quinn follows the titular clown princess as she seeks to distance herself from The Joker and become a master criminal of Gotham City in her own right, teaming up with longtime friend Poison Ivy to assemble her own crew of misfit baddies. The cast of the show includes the voice talents of Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Alan Tudyk, Ron Funches, Tony Hale, Matt Oberg, and more, all playing the various villains and heroes of Gotham City. As the show has progressed, more and more iconic DC characters have been introduced, with the latest being Guillén's Nightwing, featuring prominently in the season 3 teaser trailer.

In an interview with W Magazine, the actor spoke all about making it in Hollywood as a plus-size, queer, Latino man. Guillén responded to some jokes stating that he was type-cast as Nightwing due to the character's "bubble butt." The actor jokingly explained that he was not ashamed of his body and that it is important for performers to take on roles that showcase their best assets. Read Guillén's statement below:

I’m not ashamed of my body, so when people try to say ‘That’s just typecasting,’ y’know what? I’ll take it. Show off your best assets.

As strange as it is, Nightwing's butt has become a defining feature of the character, to the point that its depiction is now somewhat of a running joke amongst DC fans. When Brenton Thwaites was cast as the character in Titans, there was a spike in Google searches for pictures of the actor's rear, presumably from viewers wanting to make sure his butt was right for the role. Comic book artists frequently go out of their way to prominently feature it. There was even a minor outcry recently when gamers were unsatisfied with the size of Nightwing's posterior in the Gotham Nights video game.

The question was obviously asked in jest, and Guillén certainly seems to be in on the joke. Harley Quinn has already proven itself to be incredibly irreverent and self-referential, so it won't come as a shock if the subject of Nightwing's ample butt comes up in season 3. If so, viewers can rest assured that Guillén is laughing along with them, knowing full well that he's voicing a character with probably the most famous rear end in the DC universe.
