The moment FBI Agent Hector Quimby first gushed over meeting Harley Quinn in the premiere issue of her own White Knight series didn't seem that big of a deal. Sure, he was excited. But who wouldn't be? Especially for a psychologist and criminal profiler like Dr. Quimby who learned all about her case study of the Joker in school and even wrote a dissertation on their relationship. And now this fanboy was getting a chance to work alongside her on a case with the G.T.O. investigating the murderers of a killer who seems to be taking stylistic cues from the Joker.

There are still some semblances of normalcy in Batman: White Knight Presents Harley Quinn #2 when he pulls enough strings so Harley can get a temporary G.T.O. badge and free rein of crime scenes. Later in that same issue, he meets Harley in a park and hands her children some balloons, which could have just been an attempt on his part to get on her good side, as Commissioner Renee Montoya claimed. But in the same breath, the commissioner encouraged Harley to watch out. The third issue seems to justify Montoya's forewarning as Hector's interest in Harley might have more sinister undertones.

In the latest issue of the White Knight's alternative storyline by Katana Collins and Sean Murphy, a lead in the case brings them to someone connected to Hector - his mother, who is not only a Golden Age film star like the previous murder victims, but is renowned for her skill with the same type of weapon that the killer left on the latest crime scene. She also owns one of the few projectors that can play a reel that's related to the case. The reel draws direct correlations to both Hector and his mother as it shows the then young actress preparing for an audition before Hector, then a baby, starts wailing, which aggravates her greatly.

Things start getting a tad weird when Harley and her partners, including Hector, arrive at Hector's childhood home. Hector's mother not only underscores her son's obsession with Harley, but encourages the former jester to see his room, where he owns a great deal of Harley paraphernalia. Adding to the unsettling nature of the scene are his mother's remarks regarding Hector's previous obsession with becoming Batman's sidekick when she says that he celebrated when Jason Todd vanished.

All of this, coupled with one of the final panels showing the murderer hiding in the closet watching Harley Quinn makes and a few other eerie happenstances lead the reader to come to a strange conclusion: Could the woman who is murdering these movie stars be Hector? Yes, Hector may have arrived at his childhood home to help with the investigation, but he went outside not too long ago for some fresh air after getting into a disagreement with his mother. Then there's the fact that the killer is described as wearing an obscene amount of makeup, so much so that the investigators believe it's possible that Hector's mother could have done the crimes even though the killer looks young as the extensive use of makeup could have been used to hide her age. Could the killer have utilized a great deal of makeup to cover up his manly complexion? Yes, Hector is starting to look just as, if not more, psycho than the Joker.
