Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller has taken to Twitter to celebrate Pride Month with the tender final moment between the titular killer and Will Graham. Blending elements from Thomas Harris' novels centered around the character, the series takes a different approach by exploring the relationship between Hannibal and Graham from their initial pairing as doctor and patient to partnering on FBI profiling and the devastating revelation of Lecter's murderous activities. Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy led a cast that also included Laurence Fishburne, Caroline Dhavernas, Gillian Anderson, and Hettienne Park.

Though never a ratings success for NBC, the series received consistent critical acclaim across its three seasons for its striking visuals, smart writing and character development, and tasteful use of gore. Receiving the ax shortly after the debut of season 3, Hannibal has seen a large cult following over the past six years and cries for a revival. With Fuller reportedly at work finding a path for its future, he is keeping the love alive for the series.

As the month of June came to a close, Fuller took to his Twitter to offer one final moment of celebration for Pride. The openly gay creator of Hannibal did so by sharing a shot from the tender final moments between Will and Hannibal in the as-of-now series finale. Check out the touching tribute below:

Over the years, Fuller and the cast have discussed in length about the subtle homoerotic nature of the relationship between the central characters. Mikkelsen even revealed earlier this year that the final moment seen above almost saw Hannibal and Will lock lips before falling off of the cliff, though Fuller found the moment to be a little too on the nose for his liking and chose not to go with the idea. As much as fans might have liked to see the kiss come to fruition, the end result of the finale scene is still one rich in romantic nature.

With Fuller not giving up the fight to bring Hannibal back to life in the future, there is certainly a possibility that a continuation of the series could see Will and Lecter's relationship develop further. Though busy at work developing a new film adaptation of Stephen King's Christine to possibly direct, the ongoing dedication from the Emmy nominee to keep the psychological horror property alive should keep fans' hopes similarly going. Only time will tell just how the story might finally come back to life.
