Here's everything to know so far about Hanna season 3's story, characters, and release date. Created by David Farr and adapted from the 2011 film directed by Joe Wright and starring Saoirse Ronan, Hanna season 2 blazed an exciting new direction for the titular teenage heroine played by Esme Creed-Miles.
Forced to team up with her longtime frenemy Marissa Wiegler (Mireille Enos) in season 2, Hanna found herself immersed in Utrax, the CIA program that created her which has transformed into a school for enhanced teenage female assassins. Hanna and her 'sister' Clara (Yasmin Monet Prince) are indoctrinated into the revamped Utrax and were given brand new identities but they bristled at being cultivated to become assassins for the U.S. Government. Meanwhile, Marissa investigated who was pulling the strings of Utrax all along, which brought her into conflict with her old mentor John Carmichael (Dermot Mulroney), who is now the director of Utrax.

Hanna season 2's new direction was a breath of fresh air that refocused the series and introduced several fascinating new characters. The school for teenage girl assassins proved to be a compelling hook built around a mysterious new enemy who they and Hanna will have to fight in Hanna season 3.
Hanna Hasn't Been Renewed For Season 3
Amazon Prime Video hasn't renewed Hanna for season 3. The first season of Hanna premiered in March 2019 after its pilot episode premiered in conjunction with the Superbowl in February. Just two weeks after Hanna season 1 premiered, Amazon renewed Hanna for season 2 based upon the tremendous response for the series. Season 2 went into production later in 2019 for its July 3, 2020 release date.
Even if Hanna is renewed for season 3, when the new season can ramp up production is questionable as the world continues to reel from the coronavirus pandemic. If it gets the green light, it's possible that Hanna season 3 wouldn't begin production until sometime in 2021, which means earliest fans would get to see Hanna season 3 would be in 2022.
Who Will Be In The Cast Of Hanna Season 3?
Hanna season 2 only brought back a few of season 1's main characters, including headliners Esme Creed-Miles and Mireille Enos. The ending of season 1 also introduced two new, pivotal faces: Yasmin Monet Prince as Clara and Aine Rose Daly as Trainee 242, both of whom are members of Utrax. In Hanna season 2, Trainee 242 received the new identity of Sandy Phillips, and she joined a plethora of trainees in the new Utrax facility in Northern England called the Meadows.
Hanna season 2's ending sets up a new direction for season 3 that will bring nearly everyone from Utrax back, with the exceptions of Anthony Welsh, who played Leo Garner, and Yasmin Monet Prince's Clara, who was seemingly written out of the series and received a happy ending. Otherwise, Hanna, Marissa Wiegler, John Carmichael, Sandy, as well as the loveable new characters season 2 introduced like Gianna Kiehl as Jules Allen and Cherrelle Skeete as Terri Miller, should all return for Hanna season 3.
What Hanna Season 3's Story Will Be
Hanna season 2's ending directly set up the new mission for season 3: Utrax, under the command of Marissa Wiegler, is going to war against the Pioneer Group. a mysterious cadre of top-level CIA brass who have taken over the agency to pursue their own agenda, which involved taking out key targets who are all under 30-years-old. The Pioneer Group, through Carmichael, planned to use Utrax as their main weapons - a plot Marissa uncovered. Her response was to take Utrax away from Carmichael and use them to fight the Pioneer Group, and this will naturally involve Hanna, the best super soldier Utrax has. It's a compelling new direction for Hanna season 3 that promises to give Hanna a chance to fight for a life where she's finally free from being hunted.
