Here's where to watch found footage horror movie Hangman from 2015, and if it's on Netflix, Hulu or Prime. While there were a few found footage movies that followed in the wake of The Blair Witch Project, the genre received a real shot in the arm thanks to the success of Paranormal Activity. This was a micro-budget genre movie that followed a couple as they're stalked by a demonic entity in their home, and its creeping tension combined with its effective jump scares saw it become one of the influential horror films of the 21st century.

Paranormal Activity then sparked a whole franchise, with the most recent entry being 2021's Paranormal Activity: Next Of Kin. It also led to a glut of found footage horror movies, ranging from the low-budget likes of Hell House LLC and The Visit to bigger-budget fare like Into The Storm. 2015's Hangman owes an obvious debt to Paranormal Activity's formula, and sees the titular serial killer move into the house of an unsuspecting family and watching their every move via hidden cameras.

While Hangman 2015's concept may read like a serial killer version of Paranormal Activity, it brings its own unique touches to the subgenre too. Hangman sets itself apart from some other low-budget found-footage fare of the same era with a great cast too, including Jeremy Sisto, Amy Smart and Shaun Of The Dead's Kate Ashfield. While Hangman isn't currently available to view on platforms like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime, there are many options available to view it online.

Hangman 2015 is available to view for free (with adverts) on horror movie favorite Tubi TV, IMDb TV, FilmRise, Vudu Free and many, many more according to JustWatch. Oddly, Hangman isn't available to rent or purchase from other outlets, despite its streaming accessibility. While Hangman received some good early word during early screenings from outlets like Variety, it ultimately bypassed cinemas and received mostly lukewarm reviews. Some viewers also complained about Hangman's somewhat sudden ending.

While Hangman 2015 ends on a bleak note that sets up a potential further movie, it's doubtful a sequel will happen now. It's possible Hangman's muted reception was due to audience fatigue with found footage, and the movie did little to set itself apart from a wave of similar projects during that period. Perhaps if it had come a few years earlier it may have received a warmer response, but for fans of the genre looking for a movie with a slower burn, Hangman 2015 is worth a try.
