Solo: A Star Wars Story Full Trailer - Finally See Alden Ehrenreich As Han

Solo: A Star Wars Story finally has a trailer - and you can watch it here. Hot on the heels of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Lucasfilm's next film set in a galaxy far, far away arrives in just five months. Starring Alden Ehrenreich as a younger version of Harrison Ford's iconic smuggler, the film is the second entry in Lucasfilm's Star Wars anthology series after 2016's Rogue One and carries with it a lot of weight on its shoulders.

Indeed, it's been quite the journey to just this point. After filming almost 90% of the movie, Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired from the production in June this year and replaced by Oscar-winner Ron Howard, who reshot the majority of the movie, eventually wrapping production in October. Naturally, Solo has since been the subject of much debate - why were Lord and Miller let go, how have Howard's budget-doubling reshoots changed, and, crucially, how much will this hurt the finished film? We won't know the full answers for a long time, but after much speculation, a trailer's here to at least build some confidence.

After a teaser at the Super Bowl last night, Lucasfilm has officially released the teaser trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, providing us with our first proper looks at the brand new cast, which along with Ehrenreich includes Donald Glover as Lando, Emilia Clarke as the mysterious Qi'Ra, Woody Harrelson as Han's mentor Beckett and more. Check it out above.

Solo-A Star Wars Story

The biggest takeaway, of course, is our first look at young Han himself. We'd got teases of all the other characters in Ron Howard's near-blanket tweeting from the set, but any glimpse of the future Rebellion hero/smuggler was carefully hidden. He's here and he is, finally, the focus. Alden has the voice and that overegged cocksureness down, a good thing considering that the trailer is more focused on his character than any wider spectacle. Little is revealed of the plot, but we have Beckett's criminal team suggesting the film's heist plot and plenty of Imperial entanglements.

What stands out most in light of the behind-the-scenes changes is just how impressive the visuals and general makeup of the footage is. There have been calls that Lucasfilm should push the movie back from its May 25, 2018 slot to Star Wars' now traditional December, but it looks like Howard may just have pulled it off.
