Hamilton has quickly become one of the most famous and popular modern musicals, with Lin-Manuel Miranda's excellent combination of rap and singing giving a modern feel to a story all about politics and the history of the US. However, while the main focus of the story is on Alexander Hamilton's desire for success and the founding of the United States, a big part of it is also about romance.

The characters involved in this story all have their own unique personalities, whether it be Hamilton's obsessive behavior or King George's pettiness. Because of that, it's easy to gauge which of these characters would be the best to date based on their behavior and traits, but would a Schuyler Sister be the dream partner, or would George Washington be a greater catch?

King George III

King George III sings in Hamilton

Out of everybody in Hamilton, King George III would be the worst possible person to date. While he might be one of the funniest characters in the musical, that is mainly due to his over-the-top expressions and reactions to things.

The problem with King George III is that he is a petty person who is happy to spit his dummy out whenever something goes wrong. He has a bad temper, which is never ideal for a relationship, and his rudeness to others just doesn't make him an admirable person for a relationship.

John Laurens

John Laurens singing in Hamilton

The one thing that cannot be doubted about John Laurens is the fact he is loyal. He will work hard for anybody that he loves, and that is something that would work in his favor within a relationship. However, that doesn't mean that he would be a brilliant romantic partner.

John Laurens is shown to be the most immature character in Hamilton, having a lot of energy as he just wants to have fun drinking and hanging out with his friends. At that point in his life, Laurens doesn't show himself to be ready for a big relationship, which is why he doesn't have huge romantic potential.

Peggy Schuyler

Hamilton Musical Peggy Schuyler Sisters

Peggy Schuyler isn't shown in anywhere near as much detail as her sisters, but it is clear she's a little more immature than both of them, which is largely down to the fact she's the youngest. However, Peggy is showcased as being a fun individual who has a great personality.

She clearly worries about others, and that kindness is something that makes her a great potential romantic partner. Peggy is also shown to be trustworthy and extremely loyal to her sisters, and if that is anything to go by, she is someone who a romantic partner could trust as well.

Marquis de Lafayette

Marquis de Lafayette singing in Hamilton

Confidence and intelligence are the main traits of Marquis de Lafayette, and they're two great traits for any romantic partner. He is someone who is loyal and is always thinking about how he can help other people, and the fact he puts others ahead of himself is what makes him a brilliant romantic partner.

The fact he's a smart character is also a great reason for him being an ideal partner, and while his personality isn't as fleshed out as some other characters in the musical, it is still clear he could be trusted and would look after any partner.

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson Hamilton

Thomas Jefferson is a character that just oozes charisma and charm, which certainly makes him a catch from a romantic perspective. Jefferson has no shortage of confidence, and while at times that can verge on arrogance, for the most part, he does well to keep a lid on that.

He is a smart character who can engage in great conversations, and he's not afraid to do whatever is needed to ensure that he gets what he wants. While he might have some underhanded tactics, Jefferson is always acting in the best interest of others, and that is what makes him a good romantic partner.

Aaron Burr

Aaron Burr singing Wait for It in Hamilton

He might get overlooked a lot within the musical when it comes to the political side of things, but Aaron Burr would be a tremendous romantic partner. He has a great personality, being able to showcase comedy, as well as having the intelligence to have a much more serious conversation.

His love for Theodosia and his loyalty to her no matter what highlights what type of person he is and why he'd be a great partner. While he might be indecisive at times, he is patient and hardworking, refusing to give up on his goals despite the setbacks he is handed.

Alexander Hamilton

Lin-Manuel Miranda stands with his hand over his heart in Hamilton

Passion, intelligence, and charisma are all on the side of Alexander Hamilton as a romantic partner. He is somebody who will stop at nothing to get what he wants and the fact that he will push and work as hard as possible to everything he's committed to is a big plus for him as a romantic partner.

While his trustworthiness is questionable, as he does have a wandering eye, he showcases within the musical a deep regret for those actions and spends the rest of his life trying to put them right. Hamilton is a kind person and someone who always tries to do what is right, which does make him a good partner overall.

George Washington

George Washington in Hamilton

Experience and maturity are what make George Washington a great romantic partner. He's a leader of men and somebody who can be trusted, which is arguably the most important trait in love. He cares about everybody that he gets close with and always wants to bring the best out of others.

George Washington is a kind individual and while he can be firm when needed, he is always fair. The fact that he is always able to see things from every point of view, even during the most heated moments, is what would make him someone who can be a great romantic partner.

Angelica Schuyler

Angelica spins while singing Satisfied in Hamilton

Angelica Schuyler is one of the strongest characters in this musical, being someone who has ultimate confidence in herself and what she is capable of, which is a great trait to have. Angelica is well aware of her position due to the wealth of her family, but she's independent at the same time, which is what makes her so compelling.

She's one of the smartest characters to appear in the show, being a fantastic conversationalist who also has a sassy side to her personality, allowing for jokes and fun to be had. Angelica is an ideal romantic partner because of that, as she is able to engage with anyone on a deeper level.

Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton

Eliza sings "Burn" in Hamilton as she burns the letters

Alexander Hamilton doesn't really appreciate exactly what he's got with Elizabeth Schuyler as his wife, which is showcased when he cheats on her. However, Eliza really does have the greatest romantic potential in this musical, being a character full of compassion and kindness, with a lust for life as well.

She can be serious and firm when needed, standing up for herself which is always crucial in a relationship. But the fact that Eliza is a great conversationalist who is as strong of a listener as she is as a talker makes her a perfect person. She is intelligent and a little more open than her sister, while also being a tremendous mother, which is what gives her the edge ultimately. Also, her post-musical life really highlights the caring nature of her personality. She dedicates her life to helping others with her work setting up the orphanage, which showcases what a kind heart Eliza has.
