The newly revealed Halo Infinite Xbox Series X Limited Edition console is already unavailable for most, and scalpers have taken advantage of the upcoming release. Xbox Series X/S consoles have been one of the most sought-after products for game fans since their launch in 2020, and Xbox Series X resellers have been purchasing the consoles to sell on for a profit since their release.

New-generation Xbox and PS5 consoles have been hard for legitimate fans to acquire for various reasons. Supply is low, in part due to the global pandemic, and bots and scalpers are a huge problem. When retailers do manage to get stock of the consoles, legitimate buyers have struggled to beat bots created to jump the queue as scalpers look to buy the consoles to sell on for more than the retail price. The problem has been an issue for many, and it's not clear when PS5 and Xbox Series X/S stock will be more readily available.

The limited-edition Halo Infinite-themed Xbox Series X wowed fans when it was unveiled by Xbox during Gamescom 2021's Opening Night Live. Microsoft Store pre-orders for the console immediately began to sell out, and at the time of writing, Target, Walmart, and the Microsoft Store are now out of stock. Less than 24 hours after the Xbox Series X was announced, auction sites like eBay are already showing sellers attempting to resell their pre-orders for profit. Reddit user BlueGhost_7 shared a screenshot of multiple eBay sellers asking for $1,000 - $3,000 for the console, which has a retail price of $549.99.

The Halo Infinite Xbox Series X Limited Edition console doesn't just celebrate the upcoming release of Halo Infinite, but also the 20th anniversary of the Halo franchise as a whole. The Xbox Series X has a custom console design imprinted with stars mimicking the surface of Zeta Halo. The design extends onto the console's fan behind a blue Cortana-inspired vent. While the matching Xbox controller doesn't feature the star imprints, it does include the gold detailing seen in the console's design. The console pays homage to the series' history, and while it's likely a must-have for Halo fans, players probably won't be able to find it at its recommended retail price due to its limited-edition nature and the prevalence of scalpers.

Xbox Series X/S consoles are already hard to get hold of and, as an exclusive version based on Xbox's flagship IP Halo, this iteration of the console is even more desirable. As such, fans trying to get their hands on one can probably expect to see further price hikes from scalpers as the console's release date approaches. It's unclear if retailers will be getting more stock of the Halo Infinite Xbox Series X/S and fans are advised to keep an eye on the Xbox social channels for further updates.
