A comparison video for Halo Infinite's Tech Preview shows how well the Xbox Series and Xbox One versions stack up in terms of performance. Developer 343 Industries hosted another Tech Preview for Halo Infinite over the week, which lasted from September 23 through September 26. The end of this week will see the studio unleash the first-person shooter's third preview session, starting on September 30 and coming to a close on October 4.

Halo Infinite's first round of multiplayer beta testing went live in July for select PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series players.  By many accounts, the game ran like a dream on Xbox Series X since that particular hardware SKU could support up to 120fps. Both the Xbox Series X and S could manage 60fps gameplay, as well. The Xbox One and its One X counterpart fell short on this front, however, with 60fps options lacking in the original beta build. Apparently, that changed with last weekend's Halo Infinite Tech Preview.

A new comparison video from ElAnalistaDeBits outlines the performance capabilities on display during Halo Infinite's most recent beta session for Xbox. Quality Mode on One X and Series X ran at an impressive 2160p/30fps and 2160p/60fps, respectively. The YouTuber's analysis of the Performance Mode proved far more interesting, though. According to ElAnalistaDeBits' findings, the performance-favoring option allowed Halo Infinite to hit 1440p at 60fps on One X, "with temporal reconstruction from dynamic 1260p." This is especially noteworthy given that, as mentioned above, the first Tech Preview didn't boast 60fps capabilities on the One X. Meanwhile, Performance Mode on Series X achieved 2160p at 120fps. Other data from the comparison video also warrants recognition. For instance, Xbox Series X|S loading times take a little less than seven seconds; on the other hand, the Xbox One iteration loads in approximately 25 seconds with its One X counterpart needing over 36 seconds to boot up.

Because the above footage comes from pre-release play sessions, ElAnalistaDeBits' analysis may not reflect the performance of Halo Infinite as a final product. Still, this seems a solid baseline, one that should please many a fan of the fast-paced action franchise.

Initially set to release in November 2020 as an Xbox Series X|S launch title, Halo Infinite received a yearlong delay following 343 Industries' decision to further refine the project across all fronts. Fortunately, the wait to experience the new entry in full is nearly at an end, though players will have to hold out a little longer before they can get their hands on campaign co-op and Forge Mode.
