Halo Infinite has had a massive story leak which has been corroborated by developer 343 Industries. Not many details are currently available regarding the upcoming game's story, but a screenshot has surfaced recently which seems to indicate that Halo Infinite could have multiple story campaigns.

343 has been working on Halo Infinite for many years now, allowing the studio to build out a large and robust entry in the series. Although the story of Halo Infinite is largely unknown, it will continue where Halo 5 left off while also acting as a bit of a soft-reboot in some other areas, paying tribute to the franchise's extensive history in many ways. Still, there's a lot unknown about the story and 343 likely plans to keep it that way on an official level. Unofficially, however, there's an obstacle to that goal.

343 Industries' Joseph Staten has confirmed that the story of Halo Infinite is floating around the internet after dataminers found information in the files of the ongoing flight test. Although 343 seems to not want to indicate how significant they are, likely to dissuade people from seeking them out, the leaks appear to be rather sizeable and outline major parts of the game's plot, including the ending. It's unclear what exactly was found in the files of the Halo Infinite tech test that would've exposed all of this information, but fans will likely want to mute keywords on social media and avoid comment sections until the heat dies down.

Halo Infinite is expected to be longer than previous games, and it is unclear how much of this extended story content was spoiled. Story leaks are a contentious thing in the video game industry; many video games seek to create immersive storytelling, which can be ruined by fans knowing the details beforehand. As hotly as some fans may anticipate the plot of upcoming video games, knowing the story beats in advance could make playing through the campaign an act of tedium.

After a lengthy development period, Halo Infinite is slated for the holiday season, but Xbox has yet to provide a concrete release date. The team is circling a very specific window, seemingly trying to avoid competitors like Call of Duty in the holiday rush. Regardless, Microsoft has positioned itself well thanks to Xbox Game Pass, making the multiplayer free-to-play for all Xbox users, and putting the game on PC. The story leak is a bump on the road, but hopefully it won't stop Halo Infinite from having a good release.
