Microsoft has revealed the details of its Halo Infinite and Rockstar Energy Drink collaboration in celebration of the game's upcoming release. This isn't the first promotion between the Xbox shooter and other big brands, with previous specialty events including collaborations with Krispy Kreme, as well as Halo Infinite and Waze, which added the Master Chief to the popular navigation app.

Halo Infinite is primed to be one of the biggest games of the year with its release growing ever closer. Halo Infinite was originally scheduled to launch alongside the Xbox Series X/S consoles last year before being delayed to 2021. The game now has a firm release date set in place which doesn't seem likely to change at this point as it's already available to pre-download via Xbox Game Pass. Halo Infinite will release on Xbox and PC on December 8, and Microsoft has been driving hype for its launch not just with big brand promotions, but also with multiple playable Halo Infinite flight tests.

Announcing the news on the official Xbox Wire blog, Microsoft has confirmed that the Rockstar Energy promotion will see the launch of five artist-series cans of the drink, each inspired by Halo Infinite. The exclusive collector’s edition cans each feature original Master Chief artwork designed by five unique artists, and purchase also includes entry to a sweepstakes prize to win an Xbox Series X bundle, copy of the game, and Razer goodies, with one lucky winner taking home a Halo-inspired Jeep Gladiator vehicle. Fans also won't want to miss the Rockstar cans as they'll unlock exclusive in-game content, including vehicle and weapon coatings. Xbox explains:

"From October 1 until December 31, Halo Infinite Multiplayer players can score with the digital codes located under the tab of every Halo Infinite series can by unlocking Challenge Swaps and 2XP that will level up Spartans’ gameplay at launch. Fans may unlock a custom in-game emblem inspired by a Banished version of a fan-favorite power weapon, as well as the exclusive “Nocturne Star” collection of vehicle and weapon coatings for the Warthog vehicle, Razorback vehicle and the MA40 weapon. These coatings were created in partnership with Rockstar Energy Drink and are infused with hints of gold and black camo."

Master Chief's Halo Infinite Rockstar Energy Cans Come With Coatings

Rockstar Energy teased a Halo Infinite tie-in last month, something which has also been seen with other big game releases including CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077. In terms of flavors, Xbox has confirmed the exclusive cans will be available in Original, Sugar-Free, Fruit Punch, Silver Ice, and, for a limited time in the US, Blackberry Goji. The special edition cans are likely to be a must-buy for Halo fans, not only making good collectibles thanks to their exclusive artwork, but also thanks to their in-game benefits and perks.

With the promotion running until the end of the year, fans should have plenty of time to get their hands on a can, though scalping could be a problem. A rise in the resale of highly sought-after items has spread beyond big-budget releases like consoles, with scalpers acquiring and selling on stock of everything from Pokémon cards to limited-edition Oreos. Hopefully, Rockstar Energy is prepared with enough stock to last throughout the promotion, without leaving Halo Infinite fans disappointed.
