Fast-food chain Wendy's has roasted Xbox for Halo Infinite's lack of a co-op campaign. The sixth installment in the main Halo series was released a little over a month ago in December, while Halo Infinite's multiplayer released as a free-to-play game in November. Both components have seen some controversies, with many players unhappy with the multiplayer's microtransactions, as well as the paid campaign's missing features.

Halo Infinite's development experienced some setbacks that led to the delay of its release and caused some of the series' usual components to be missing at release. In addition to having its planned 2020 release delayed by a year, Halo Infinite's campaign still lacks a co-op mode, much to the disappointment of many. Playing Halo campaigns in a split-screen co-op configuration is a staple for the Halo franchise (with the exception of Halo 5, which left many fans unhappy). Developer 343 Industries has confirmed Halo Infinite's co-op campaign is coming, though it's unclear when.

The official Twitter account for Wendy's has roasted Xbox for its Halo Infinite's missing co-op campaign. Wendy's had originally posted a tweet saying that January 12 was National Roast Day, asking for other Twitter users to comment for the opportunity to be roasted. The official Xbox account responded: "Fine. Let's do this." Upon getting the go-ahead, Wendy's responded with: "Wanna co-op this new Halo campaign?" The witty response has seen over 8,000 Likes at the time of writing.

The Wendy's roast was especially on point as Halo fans made it clear they were upset with the missing features of Halo Infinite even before it launched. On the Halo subreddit around the time of the campaign's release, one of the top posts was a list of the game's missing features, with the lack of co-op taking the top spot. At the time, some fans argued that the absence of a co-op campaign function deters players from playing the game again once they complete the story. Furthermore, content creators and casual fans are unable to play the game alongside their friends without the co-op feature.

The addition of the Halo Infinite's campaign co-op has been pushed back with the extension of the multiplayer component's Season 1. Though the exact date of the launch is currently unknown, it is expected to release around May 2022, with the start of Season 2. While this is still some time away, a recent Halo Infinite campaign co-op multiplayer glitch allowed users to access the feature early. Players likely still have a wait on their hands until the official release.
