A Halo Infinite player used the new Repulsor to create what could be one of the most impressive plasma grenade sticks the multiplayer game has seen so far. After a brief flurry of rumors and speculation, developer 343 Industries recently surprise-released the free-to-play multiplayer component of the game in conjunction with the celebration of the Xbox's 20th anniversary. Halo Infinite quickly broke Xbox records, seeing a peak of over 270,000 concurrent players during the first day of release on Steam alone.

The title has seen a few minor issues since launch, however. While Steam users were able to jump into the game right away, players looking to jump in on Xbox consoles were initially met with a blue screen instead of Halo Infinite when trying to boot the game. This hiccup was quickly patched, at which point players flooded into matchmaking to test their skills against fellow Spartans. Some players have reported server stability issues with the game, but Halo Infinite's release has been a relatively smooth one compared to the launch state of other new games like Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy.

A Repulsor and plasma grenade kill shared on the r/Halo subreddit by user izbene has quickly become one of the first must-see multiplayer clips from Halo Infinite. The video, which is edited in a hilarious cinematic fashion, sees izbene bounce a plasma grenade off of a wall before using a Repulsor to launch the grenade across the map.  The grenade then bounces off a short ledge and manages to land directly on the head of an unsuspecting opponent, sending them careening into the wall.  The play is a clear example of the versatility offered by some of Halo Infinite's new equipment, with the Grappleshot being another player favorite so far. The Repulsor is far from unpopular itself, as it sends a blast out in front of the player which can launch away other players, vehicles, and (as seen in the clip) grenades.

The play has become one of the most popular posts of all time on the Halo subreddit. Sitting at over 30,000 upvotes, the grenade stick is currently the third most upvoted post on the subreddit of the year. The humorous cinematic take on the replay has been received particularly well, with the top comment simply stating, "omg the head smash into the wall is hilarious."

Player's so-far positive reaction to Halo Infinite is a far cry from the notoriously poor response the game initially received when its campaign was revealed in mid-2020. While the campaign still isn't releasing for another month, improvements to its visuals in recent reveals indicate it could potentially be as well-received as Halo Infinite's multiplayer so far.
