At the start of Halo Infinite’s latest multiplayer tech preview, players have already found a melee exploit that enables them to spam melee attacks in quick succession to ridiculous and devastating effect. The exploit was found during the game’s second Halo Infinite multiplayer technical preview, which will run from the weekends of September 23 to 26 and September 30 to October 3. Eligible players will get to experience Halo Infinite’s new features, such as the expanded Big Team Battle game mode with 12v12 action. The purpose of the technical preview is for the developers to test server stability and obtain valuable feedback from players, and players have already spotted many, many bugs.

During the first Halo Infinite technical preview held in the summer, players got their first hands-on experience with Halo Infinite’s multiplayer, and that alpha build had its share of glitches, too. At one point, many participants noticed that bots were acting strangely. Bots began taunting players after kills in what appeared to be a hilarious nod to the community's long history of teabagging, but it ultimately turned out to be a accident. 343 Industries shortly thereafter came clean about the Halo Infinite bot taunt glitch, revealing that some bots' rapid crouching was the result of bugged AI behavior.

Reddit users Decmanh and CraftZ49 have noticed a Halo Infinite multiplayer tech preview exploit that allows them to pull off endless melee attacks. The method enables players to launch a barrage of melee attacks that quickly kill enemies (bots in each case) before they can properly react. To perform the exploit, players have to swap weapons between melee hits. Another way for a player to perform the melee exploit is with a reloadable weapon, which also allows for a series of alternating melee and reload actions to be pulled off.

The new Halo Infinite tech preview bug melee glitch is being likened to the infamous BXB and BXR exploits from Halo 2, each of which allowed players to score kills using well-timed button combinations. BXR was performed by pressing the B button to melee, X to cancel the attack after hitting the enemy, and then pressing R to score a Battle Rifle headshot. This short combo would kill even a fully shielded opponent and became notorious in the game's community. Meanwhile, BXB was more similar to the new Halo Infinite melee glitch, only requiring players to melee, reload, and melee again to near-instantly kill targets.

Introducing modes like Big Team Battle for public play, Halo Infinite's technical preview is meant to unearth strange bugs and glitches, so it's good that players are sharing what they've found so far. The new melee glitch gives an unfair advantage to players who have mastered the combination, so it's probable developer 343 Industries will patch it out before the tech preview's end.
