A pair of new trailers for Halo Infinite have been released, emphasizing the return of Master Chief and showing off the game's grappling hook, among other things. Although developer 343 Industries has already made Halo Infinite's multiplayer available as a free download, the actual campaign won't be playable until the full game launches on December 8.

The Halo games don't just have a reputation for their gameplay and stories, but also for their pre and post-release trailers. The Halo series has had a number of exciting trailer releases in its 20-year lifespan, many of which are considered to be among the most memorable in video game history. The reveal video for Halo 2, the Super Bowl commercial for Halo 3, and the live-action trailer for Halo: Reach are just a handful of the stand-out trailers that have driven fan excitement over the years. Halo Infinite has a few live-action trailers, but they are mainly focused on smaller characters in the Halo universe who have contributed to the Master Chief's success.

Two new Halo Infinite videos have been uploaded to the official Xbox channel on YouTube, offering not only a live-action trailer, but also a new cinematic commercial featuring Master Chief and the grappling hook. In the new "Carry On" cinematic, the 33-second spot follows the Master Chief as he charges into battle against a group of Brutes, outmaneuvering them and turning their own weapons on them. The exciting video highlights some of the action that players will soon get to experience in the Halo Infinite campaign, and has been a resounding hit with fans, reaching over 22,000 Likes at the time of writing.

The other new video for Halo Infinite, entitled "Forever We Fight,"  is a longer live-action trailer that sets up multiple scenes with a number of characters, each from a different period in human history. Each of them has their own sources of conflict in their time, leading all the way up to Master Chief's current fight against the Banished army. The live-action video focuses more on conflict and emotion, contrasting with the high-octane battle sequence of "Carry On," and has seemingly seen less interest from fans, with around half the number of views of the Master Chief-centered video.

Halo Infinite's new "Carry On" trailer emphasizes the fluid and dynamic combat of the upcoming campaign, which promises to be one of the most thrilling Master Chief adventures to date. The last moments show him grappling a Gravity Hammer away from a leaping Brute, much like how players can steal weapons from enemies using the Halo Infinite Grappleshot in the multiplayer. The trailer has been well-received by long-standing fans of the series, with one YouTube commenter praising the cinematic for being reminiscent of marketing for both Halo 3 and Reach.

Excitement for Halo Infinite has arguably never been higher, in part thanks to Xbox's decision to roll out the multiplayer suite in advance of the campaign's launch. The choice means players won't necessarily have to split their attention between the multiplayer and the campaign once it comes out, which could bolster player numbers for the campaign. Halo Infinite's multiplayer has already broken Xbox records, beating the concurrent player number for an Xbox Game Studios title on Steam within the first few hours of its release, and by staggering the release of the multiplayer and campaign, it's very possible that Halo Infinite could have the most successful Halo launch to date.
