Halo Infinite glitches can lead to some fun and unexpected occurrences, and a new one lets gamers punch the Oddball into space. Halo Infinite has seen some glitches since the launch of its multiplayer and, later, single player campaign mode; with one bug - found earlier this month - allowing players to access the Halo Infinite co-op campaign early.
Oddball has long-been a staple of the Halo series, and its central objective is simple: hold on to a flaming skull to gain points. Halo Infinite maintains this classic gameplay, while slightly changing the format of the game to keep things more exciting. Since its early - and free - launch on November 15, the Halo Infinite multiplayer has seen a large audience eager to see how the latest entry in the franchise reinvents the classics while still remaining true to the spirit of Halo multiplayer. And while the launch wasn’t without its issues, with Halo Infinite servers going down on the first day of release, the game's release has mostly been smooth sailing. That said, bugs and glitches occur in every title, no matter how clean the programming.
Game Rant recently reported on a new glitch documented by YouTuber Yaboitroy; one that lets gamers punt the Oddball into the stratosphere and forcing it to reset after a few seconds. Accomplished by simply dropping the Oddball while looking up, stepping to the right, and using the melee attack, the glitch sends the Oddball high up into air, with a distance tracker to prove that it’s still technically in-play. After a few seconds, the Oddball resets and everything appears to be back to normal except for the brief moment when it is out of sight. While the Halo Infinite Cat Lovers bundle might be the cheekiest aspect to currently exist in Halo Infinite, this is a pretty close second.
Of course, this is probably not an intended feature of the game, and is likely to be patched out once the team at 343 Studios gets wind of it. That said, this is a pretty fun glitch as far as glitches go, and doesn’t take up so much time or mess things up to the point that it would upset other players. Sure, punting the Oddball into space every five seconds would make it difficult to finish a round; but as an every-once-in-a-while occurrence, this is harmless fun. And compared to another glitch that is wiping Halo Infinite save files, this has much less dire consequences.
While fans of the campaign have been left with many unanswered questions - hopefully to be answered in DLC - the multiplayer is still going strong. From highly-competitive matches to goofy glitches like this one, there’s something for everyone. Who knows what gamers will be sending into space next.
Halo Infinite is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
