Halo Infinite fan has shared images of a terrifyingly realistic Flood cosplay in its final stages of construction. It's been a shaky first few weeks for Halo Infinite. While the core gameplay of the shooter's multiplayer beta has been highly praised, its experience system and microtransactions have caught the ire of the game's community. Developer 343 Industries has been responsive to fan outcry, having just dramatically increased Halo Infinite's daily progression rewards from online matches in response to complaints.

Excitement for the game's full release is at an all-time high, a far cry from the reaction the title met after its first gameplay footage was revealed in mid-2020. Infinite was originally scheduled to launch during the 2020 holiday season but was delayed after the initial negative response. However, Halo Infinite surprised many fans when the free multiplayer mode dropped unexpectedly in November 2021. While the paid campaign portion of the game is not due to arrive until December 2021, developer 343 Industries teased fans even further with the recent release of a campaign trailer. The trailer shows a boss fight against Halo Infinite's protagonist, Escharum.

An incredible, nearly complete Flood cosplay shared on the Halo subreddit by user karrver_fx has wowed fans of the game. The intricate costume can be seen as individual components, including a massive mutated arm and an entire prosthetic head. The fact that the entire project was completed in under 3 months makes it all the more impressive.

While high-quality cosplay based on the Halo franchise is nothing new, like such as a Halloween costume featuring a father and daughter as a pair of Halo's Spartans, to see the Flood recreated as a costume is much rarer. The top comments on the post praised the build's quality. The creator received plenty of humorously negative feedback as well, with some sharing their mock-horror at the "disgusting" costume. Detailing the build, karrver_fx noted that the costume is made of clay and rubber skin to make the painting easier.

The costume is just one of many ways fans are celebrating this unique time in Halo's history. The multiplayer component of the game, which is free to play, was suddenly and surprisingly released during the Xbox 20th Anniversary celebration earlier this month, which also marked the 20th anniversary of Halo. Infinite was an instant record-setter for Microsoft, setting new all-time highs for concurrent players on Steam, while also seeing hundreds of teams compete in the Halo Championship Series.  So far, despite issues with its battle pass and microtransactions, Halo Infinite is shaping up to be one of the most successful titles of 2021.
