Microsoft's 343 Industries has revealed a brand new enemy in the upcoming Halo: Infinite, along with extra images of the universe's legendary MJOLNIR armor in a post on the Halo Waypoint website. Despite the fact that the game won't be releasing until next year, Microsoft is still doing plenty to keep the sequel in the headlines for the right reasons.

The upcoming first-person shooter was initially meant to be Microsoft's big draw for the new Xbox Series X console. However, the company announced earlier this year that the game would not meet its intended launch date in November. Halo: Infinite will now release in 2021, meaning it will miss the launch of the next-gen console. But fans have been reassured over the development of the title, especially in light of the announcement that key early series figures like Joe Staten are returning to the franchise to right the course of the game.

343 Industries has shared a collection of new screenshots, concept art, and story details for Halo: Infinite in a post on the Halo Waypoint site. Chief among the fresh information is the reveal of a new character called Jega 'Rdomnai. This elite is a member of The Banished, a splinter faction of the Covenant, who wields a red energy sword. According to the developer, he seems to be tasked with tracking down Master Chief, with the post saying that "he has hunted demons before, and as the first recruit welcomed into the Hand of Atriox, he will do so again." Speaking of Master Chief, the studio also detailed the hero's new Gen 3 Mark VII armor. From what has been shown so far, it looks to incorporate many familiar elements along with a series of additional upgrades to certain sections.

Despite the delay to Halo: Infinite's launch, there will be plenty of marketing material for the game this year. For example, a special promotion with Monster Energy is still set to go ahead. The cross-promotion sees those who buy limited-edition cans of the energy drink can get access to a number of in-game goodies. These include XP boosts and weapons skins, along with filters for the social media platform Snapchat. Running from September 1 until the end of the year, it will end months before Halo: Infinite is even available in stores.

Over the last few weeks, Halo: Infinite has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Amid rumors of a very troubling development and a delay into 2021, fans of the series might have been worried about the state of the shooter. The fact that 343 Industries is still doing its best to keep fans in the loop and is releasing more insight into Halo: Infinite will surely be some measure of comfort to those who are invested in the sci-fi franchise. But a lot more will need to be done to convince players not to worry about the game.
