Although quick resume is a great feature on Xbox Series X and Series S, it would be best to avoid using it at all while playing through Halo Infinite’s campaign - at least for now. Instead of allowing Halo fans to easily switch back and forth between Halo and Forza Horizon 5 - Xbox’s two biggest releases this fall - quick resume could cause players a lot of trouble. However, the development team is already aware of the issues and hopefully has a fix on the way.

Halo Infinite is the first new entry in the beloved Xbox franchise on PC and consoles since Halo Wars 2 in 2017 and the first new mainline Halo game since Halo 5’s divisive launch in 2015. Continuing the story of Master Chief and his complicated relationship with artificial intelligence, Halo Infinite released in December to high praise after a year-long delay. As the first Halo with both a battle pass and an open world campaign, though, not everything’s been perfect, and the latest problem with quick resume is a good example.

Quick resume, introduced on the latest Xbox consoles, lets players switch between different games in seconds without needing to save or shut anything down. Essentially, the feature can store three save states for modern generation games and even more for Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles. Quick resume does not keep a game connected to the internet, however, which is why Halo Infinite players are running into issues in the campaign.

You Shouldn’t Use Quick Resume In The Halo Infinite Campaign

A Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Halo Infinite

While playing through missions in the Halo Infinite campaign, Master Chief finds lockers that contain cosmetic items, which can later be used on the player’s Spartan character in the multiplayer mode. For dedicated Halo Infinite fans, it’s a nice perk, especially for those who want to explore every area and 100% the game. The problem is that transferring those cosmetic items to the player’s multiplayer account requires an online connection.

According to a tweet from Brian Jarrard, 343 Industries’ community manager, utilizing quick resume can disconnect Halo players from the internet. Without that internet connection, the items can’t transfer to the multiplayer account and become lost in the cyber void. However, Jarrard did state that the development team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix that will retroactively allow players to regain their lost items so that they can be used in Halo Infinite's multiplayer. In the meantime, though, he strongly recommends not using quick resume while playing Halo Infinite’s campaign mode.
