A clever Halo Infinite player has discovered a way to lessen the game’s Battle Pass grind by utilizing the Social Menu to skip unwanted game modes, making Battle Pass progression much easier. The newest installment of the beloved Halo franchise has been split into two offerings: a free-to-play multiplayer component which released in November, and a paid campaign mode due to launch on December 8.

By splitting the launch of Halo Infinite into two components, 343 Industries has allowed fans to get to grips with the multiplayer before diving into the campaign. The free-to-play multiplayer marks the first time a Halo title has gone F2P, and fans have been eager to test out everything it has to offer. Although Halo Infinite’s multiplayer has been praised for its gameplay, many players have criticized its Battle Pass for its push towards microtransactions for cosmetics, and its slow progression system. As a result of the community backlash, Halo Infinite’s daily challenge XP was recently increased by 343, with more adjustments to the Battle Pass progression in the future.

As reported by Dexerto, one Halo Infinite fan has found a trick to help complete challenges for the game’s Battle Pass, making its progression a little less grindy. Reddit user Veggum shared their discovery, which involves using Halo Infinite’s Social Menu to find out what game mode has been selected, allowing players to leave the lobby before the match begins. In order to utilize this trick, players connecting to a game must press TAB (or Select on a controller) when the bar at the bottom of the screen turns blue. This will open up the Social Menu, and the game mode that a player is connecting to will be displayed under the Fireteam tab. If the game mode isn’t what’s desired, with the Social Menu still open, simply press the F key (or the X button on a controller) to leave the game.

Currently, many players attempting to complete Halo Infinite’s Battle Pass challenges have elected to simply leave undesired matches, causing completely empty lobbies for those wishing to play. This is due to the fact that the game currently does not allow players to pick the mode they wish to play, forcing players to queue up for random matches via four available playlists. As some of the Battle Pass’ challenges require specific tasks that can only be completed in certain game modes, many frustrated fans have expressed that they feel that they are forced to leave matches in order to find the mode they require in order to progress through the Battle Pass within a reasonable amount of time. Veggum has noted that this trick will allow players to leave undesired game modes without incurring a penalty, however, it will not work for competitive matches.

The random element to completing Halo Infinite’s Battle Pass challenges can be understandably frustrating for many fans who don’t have a lot of time to play. While 343 has plans to add more playlists to Halo Infinite by the end of the year, hopefully Veggum’s trick will help lessen the grind involved with the game’s challenges in the meantime. Despite its strong start with impressive player numbers, Halo Infinite's multiplayer still has some way to go before it becomes the game many are hoping for.
