A mod creator made a terrifying functional Scarab for Halo 3. The Halo franchise is easily one of the most renowned first-person shooter video game series on the market. 2007's Halo 3 completes the plotline that began in the original Halo. With its varied level design and entertaining multiplayer, it features what is arguably the most popular multiplayer in Halo.

One of the most exciting yet difficult aspects of the Halo 3 campaign is the end of "The Covenant" mission. In this mission, players are faced with not one, but two gigantic Scarab tanks dropped onto the battlefield. Equipped with a massive cannon that shoots energy blasts that can kill a player with one shot, the Scarab is one of the game's deadliest foes. Notoriously difficult to board and neutralize, players must either attempt to control the tank or dodge its attacks. Fans encountered a Scarab in Halo 2 and at the beginning of Halo 3, but the end of this campaign doubles the terror by forcing fans to face two Scarabs at once. This fight with the twin Scarabs is what makes Halo 3 the best campaign in the franchise, according to some fans. That popularity has contributed to increased longevity, which can be seen in the fact that to this day players still debate things like Halo 3's best dual-wielding strategy. Now, one fan has created a mod that makes the game's powerful Scarab even more terrifying.

On the Halo subreddit, a mod creator that goes by the username weaver900 posted a video of the mod they made that lets the Scarab AI function on Sandtrap. Though the Scarab is a mighty foe, it does not always do well in the Forge gamemode on Sandtrap, Halo 3's multiplayer map. Weaver900 was able to not only make a functioning Scarab AI on Sandtrap, but make it extra fearsome. In their video, Weaver900 lures the metal beast between two half-buried structures so that it straddles them. It then takes aim and shoots weaver900 with an energy blast from its massive cannon, killing them with one shot.

In the comments of their post on the subreddit, weaver900 added a link to the Nexus Mods listing for their mod. To play Halo 3 with the mod, they explain that players just have to run Sandtrap in either the Forge gamemode or custom games with anticheat disabled. Fans better act quick, though, because the mod could potentially break when the next update rolls out. As the Halo MCC Season 8 patch notes have been released a day prior to weaver900's post, it's likely that their mod will still work with this latest patch.

Fans of the Halo franchise are gearing up for the December release of Halo Infinite, the newest installment in the Halo series. However, with the release of Halo MCC Season 8, the love for the original franchise persists. With mods created to enhance gameplay, fans probably won't grow tired of Halo 3 for a while.
