Even years later Halo 2 players and enthusiasts alike are still discovering new details about the critically acclaimed first-person shooter 17 years after its release. Halo is easily one of the most recognizable first-person shooters, directly responsible for redefining the possibilities of the genre. Halo 2 introduced interactive multiplayer to an entire generation of console gamers. The multiplayer included matchmaking, lobbies, and the ability to play in clans with friends. Halo 2 launched in 2004 as the highly anticipated sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, which released three years prior. The Halo series was previously developed by Bungie but 343 Industries has recently taken over development responsibilities.

To this day, nearly 20 years laterHalo 2 retains its status as the best selling game for the original Xbox, selling more than 8 million copies worldwide. The sequel expanded on many elements of the first game, including the decision to integrate multiplayer. In addition to the intriguing plot starring the Master Chief and the esoteric Covenant, the multiplayer component was a major factor in the game's commercial and critical success. Halo 3 followed three years later in 2007.

The Halo series is a significant driving force in Xbox and Microsoft managing to cement its status as a consistent force in gaming. Halo is now 20 years old and continues to go from strength to strength. The highly anticipated title Halo: Infinite is expected to release towards the end of this year. The game's development is being closely followed by scores of passionate Halo fans in what is a reminder of the series' evergreen nature. When Halo: Reach was first added to Steam two years ago, the title quickly overshadowed its competition to become the top seller on the platform. Needless to say, Halo continues to be a dominant force in gaming to this very day.

Halo 2 player PBJsForever posted a video to Reddit in which they swap weapons with a nearby marine. The weapons that are being swapped include a needler and a plasma rifle. There is a clear difference in the marine's facial expressions depending on which weapon he possesses. Although it is an admittedly nonessential detail, it is interesting it is just now being noticed by observant players all these years later.

Indeed, Halo has become so popular that Tesla CEO Elon Musk may even get involved. An Xbox Marketing Executive named Aaron Greenberg has been lobbying Musk to create a real warthog based on the unique vehicle from Halo. The move would be a welcome sight considering the frustration many fans have felt throughout the controversial development of Halo: Infinite. Having Musk collaborate with Xbox to create a real-life Warthog would serve as great promotional work for the upcoming release.

Although Halo 2 released nearly two decades ago, nostalgic gamers continue to return to the highly influential best-seller. Halo fans are still divided on the overall consensus of Halo 2The fact that gamers can still unearth subtle details so long after its initial launch shows how much effort and dedication Bungie put into the original game. It demonstrates why many consider it to be a classic.
