Halloween Kills slashes into theaters in October 2020, but its first trailer will arrive well before that, and here's when we think that might be. To say that writer/director Rob Zombie's pair of Halloween films proved to be divisive would be a massive understatement. One assumes that the negative reaction from both critics and fans to Zombie's Halloween 2 in 2009 is most of the reason Michael Myers sat on the horror bench until 2018. Thankfully, when it was time to get back in the game, Michael didn't disappoint.

While Halloween 2018 wasn't a perfect film, many would argue it's one of, if not the best Halloween movies to be made since John Carpenter's 1978 classic. That's covering a lot of ground too, at nine films between 1978 and 2018. 1981's Halloween 2 and 1988's Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers tend to be particularly popular with franchise fans, as is 1998's Halloween H20, albeit to a lesser extent. Since Halloween 2018 retcons all those prior sequels, it was vital that director David Gordon Green's film didn't disappoint, and its positive reviews and huge profit margin speak to it not letting fans down.

Fans rejoiced when Blumhouse announced in summer 2019 that Michael Myers would soon be back for a pair of follow-ups, 2020's Halloween Kills, and 2021's Halloween Ends. Most doubt these films will truly be the last fans see of Myers, but really, it's not like Halloween devotees ever want him to go away permanently. The question now becomes when fans will finally get to see the first trailer for Halloween Kills.

When Will The Halloween Kills Trailer Release?

Halloween Kills announcement title

Nearly a year out from Halloween Kills' theatrical release, it's not surprising that Blumhouse and distributor Universal have yet to offer a timetable on when the sequel's trailer will appear. The marketing of Halloween 2018 allows us to take a stab (pun intended) at predicting when said trailer will materialize. Halloween 2018 also released to theaters in October of its year, and the first trailer for that film debuted at CinemaCon 2018 in late April 2018.

However, Halloween 2018's trailer didn't end up making its way online for those outside CinemaCon to view until early June 2018, over a month later, which caused much annoyance among fans. It's possible Blumhouse and Universal try to head those complaints off with a simultaneous release this time, but summer 2020 still seems like the logical bet for Halloween Kills' first trailer, especially since it was summer when Halloween Kills was announced in 2019. Following trailer #1, Halloween 2018 didn't get another preview until September 2018, suggesting that fans shouldn't expect a second trailer until a few months after the first.
