With Halloween Kills, Jamie Lee Curtis will pass a franchise record previously held by her late co-star Donald Pleasence. Jamie Lee Curtis isn't a fan of the horror genre as a viewer, and once "cheated" her way through a screening of The Silence Of The Lambs after a friend handed her a piece of paper telling her when the major scares were coming. Still, she credits the genre with not only launching her career with the original Halloween but also for giving female performers strong characters to work with.

Jamie Lee Curtis' early career was closely tied to horror, and she made a bunch of slashers in a row, including Prom Night and Terror Train. She made a conscious decision to step away from the genre following Halloween 2 - which includes passing a very meta role in Psycho 2 - as she felt she would never be offered other kinds of parts if she continued. She kept true to this pledge until she returned as Laurie Strode for Halloween H20 in 1998, while she dipped into the genre again with the likes of Virus.

She returned to Laurie Strode once again for Halloween 2018, which retconned the other sequels out of existence. In this entry, she essentially served as the film's version of Dr. Loomis, played by Donald Pleasence in five movies and Malcolm McDowell in Rob Zombie's Halloween remake duology. Pleasence's Loomis is a beloved part of the series, with the actor bringing intensity and gravitas to even the weaker entries. The late actor was the connective glue between movies, but with Halloween Kills, Jamie Lee Curtis will surpass his appearances in the series.

Halloween 2 Loomis Laurie

Halloween Kills will mark Curtis' sixth outing as Laurie Strode, following 1978's Halloween, its 1981 sequel, H20, Resurrection and David Gordon Green's 2018 reboot. The actress is also set to reprise Laurie at least one more time with Halloween Ends, which will cap off the current trilogy. It's doubtful even Jamie Lee Curtis could have guessed how long-lasting her involvement with the franchise would be, but it speaks to how much she brings to the character of Laurie Strode too.

Donald Pleasence's final outing with the series was Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers, though the actor passed in 1995 before it was released. He was irreplaceable in the role, and future sequels, such as H20, didn't even attempt to recast him. That said, Halloween Kills itself is said to feature some kind of flashback cameo involving Dr. Loomis, so it will be interesting to see how the sequel handles his character.
