Halloween Kills actor James Jude Courtney shares a sweet picture of him in Michael Myers garb behind the scenes with Allyson actress Andi Matichak. Halloween Kills, which is currently in theaters and streaming on Peacock, is the second film in David Gordon Green's reboot trilogy, which directly continues the story of the original 1978 Halloween and ignores the continuity of the other sequels. It follows three generations of Strode women: original survivor Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer), and her granddaughter Allyson (Matichak). Halloween Kills also stars Anthony Michael Hall, Charles Cyphers, Nancy Stephens, Kyle Richards, and Dylan Arnold.

In the new trilogy, the infamous serial killer Michael Myers is played by two people. They are credited as The Shape, which is the title given to Michael while in costume. Original The Shape actor Nick Castle has returned to play the role, but he splits his time with James Jude Courtney. Courtney is an actor and experienced stuntman who steps in for the scenes that require more vigorous activity from Michael (which are most of them, considering the extremely high body count of Halloween Kills).

On his Instagram, James Jude Courtney posted a very sweet behind-the-scenes image from the set. The photo, which is captioned "Me and my good friend @andimatichak" shows the two hugging while on set. It's an incongruous photo, considering that Courtney is in full Michael costume including bloody hands and a half-burned face, but it shows just how well everybody got along while shooting the film. The pair will be reteaming in the third and final entry of the trilogy, Halloween Ends, which is set to come to theaters on October 14, 2022. It seems likely that either Laurie, Michael, or both will perish before the end of the film, but Allyson's fate is still entirely up in the air. What is known is that Halloween Ends will take place after a time jump and address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Haddonfield.

This Halloween Kills image is reminiscent of an old behind-the-scenes shot of Nick Castle himself on the set of the original Halloween, wearing the mask on top of his head and pretending to let it sip a can of soda. It seems that in order to play Michael Myers, it's important to have a sense of humor. This likely ultimately helps create a safe-feeling set environment, because when one's job is to chase actors around with a giant butcher knife, it's important to make sure they know one is not actually a hulking brutish killer.
