Original Michael Myers actor Nick Castle confirms he has a cameo in the upcoming Halloween Ends. Castle first played the menacing killer The Shape in John Carpenter’s 1978 horror masterpiece Halloween.

Of course Castle would later go on to do a lot of other things in movies besides play hulking murderers in proto-slasher movies. His list of writing credits includes more collaborations with John Carpenter on Escape from New York and Escape from L.A.. His directing credits meanwhile include the sci-fi classic The Last Starfighter, the 1993 Dennis the Menace movie and the Damon Wayans vehicle Major Payne. But Castle always remained associated with the role of Michael Myers, which is why David Gordon Green brought him back for a cameo in his 2018 Halloween reboot, using him for one shot in which Myers is glimpsed through a window. Castle also returned for 2021’s Halloween Kills but unfortunately saw his scene cut from the finished film. That scene, in which Castle played Myers’ reflection in a mirror, was thankfully included on the recent home release of the movie.

2022 will now see the release of the trilogy-capping Halloween Ends and Castle himself just confirmed that he will be back for another cameo. The writer-director-actor made the confirmation on Twitter while calling out other articles for failing to properly credit the man behind the Myers mask for most of the scenes in the Halloween reboots. “Unfortunately, this and other recent articles on the production of Halloween Ends mistakenly think I am playing Michael Myers,” Castle posted, referring to an article on AJC.com. He continued, “The talented James Jude Courtney will once again play MM. I’ll have a fun cameo but let’s give credit where credit is due.”

Castle of course did play Myers for that one shot in Halloween 2018 while also recording breathing sounds for the character. But it’s true that Courtney did most of the work as Myers in both of the already-released new Halloween films and will again bring The Shape to life in Halloween Ends. It’s good to know however that Castle will continue his tradition of at least putting in a cameo appearance when Halloween Ends indeed ends the latest run of Halloween movies. Of course Jamie Lee Curtis will also be back as Laurie Strode, as the film sets up what one can only assume will be a final confrontation between her and Myers.

But then again it’s perhaps never safe to assume that any confrontation is ever final when it comes to a horror franchise like Halloween. The new movies have done great box office and it’s possible that the series could continue on into the future, with Curtis perhaps even returning as Strode and Castle continuing to make his Myers cameo appearances. Fans can find out what one shot Green puts Castle in as Myers when Halloween Ends hits theaters.
