Ahead of Halloween Ends, Jamie Lee Curtis bids her most iconic character, Laurie Strode, goodbye. Though Curtis has acted in many genres during her impressive four decade career in Hollywood, she is best known as a scream queen and final girl due to her roles in the Halloween franchise as well as The Fog and Prom Night in 1980, and Roadgames in 1981. The actor is also set to star in Disney+'s The Haunted Mansion reboot as Madame Leota, continuing her storied career in horror. Curtis first played Laurie in 1978 John Carpenter film Halloween, and was one of the first horror heroines to return to a long-dormant franchise with 2018's Halloween, directed by David Gordon Green, a trend which was continued by the Scream franchise as well as others.

Halloween Ends will deliver the conclusion to Green's Halloween reboot trilogy, coming after 2021's Halloween Kills. Kills saw one of Myers' bloodiest rampages yet, as he killed an entire mob of civilians and topped it off by killing Laurie's daughter, Karen (Judy Greer). The trailers and marketing for Halloween Ends have teased the final battle between Laurie and Myers, as well as confirming that the film will be Laurie's last appearance in the saga. After more than forty years in the role, Curtis has an emotional exit ahead, as do fans of the renowned final girl.

In a new video entitled "Jamie's Journey" released by Universal Pictures, Curtis says goodbye to her beloved character. The featurette sees Curtis practicing the previously teased brutal kitchen fight as well as being applauded by the film's cast and crew, presumably when filming wrapped. After spending 44 years with the character of Laurie, the enthusiasm Curtis retains for the character and the franchise is admirable, and she notes that the film has been an emotional journey for her. Is Halloween Ends Really The End Of The Franchise?

Though Curtis is wrapping up the portrayal of her best known character, her legacy remains. She was a crucial fixture of the original Halloween films and a huge part of what made the reboot work, and her turn as one of the most famous final girls will be missed. Despite its title, this film may not be the end of the Halloween franchise, as John Carpenter has previously suggested that the Halloween franchise could go on. That said, Laurie is sure to go out with a bang in Halloween Ends, and though it's not known whether she will survive the film, cementing her legendary final girl status. Previous trailers have hinted that Laurie will have to die in order to finally bring Myers down for good. However, given Myers' seemingly unkillable status, it's possible that the serial killer will make it out of Halloween Ends alive.

Whether Myers and/or Laurie perish or not, the pressure is on for Halloween Ends to deliver a satisfying finale for the characters and their history together, which was 40 years in the making. As for Myers, given the box office projections for Halloween Ends, which predict that the film will outperform its predecessor by $40 million, it's unlikely that the Halloween franchise is truly coming to an end on October 14th. As for how Myers could return in a future reboot after the conclusion of the trilogy, perhaps Halloween Ends will provide an answer.
