After months of waiting, fans finally got the first teaser trailer for the third and final installment of Blumhouse's Halloween franchise, Halloween Ends. The clip gave fans everything they wanted: the classic John Carpenter score, the Strode stare, the Michael surprise. Laurie has a showdown with Michael, reliving the nightmare of 1978.

With multiple flashbacks from the 1978 Halloween included in the teaser, audiences should expect the latest installment to be a similar methodical and suspenseful ride. The trailer also revealed the direction of Halloween Ends, whether a time jump since Halloween Kills or Laurie's fate.

There Will Be At Least Two Laurie/Michael Showdowns

The first part of the teaser showed Michael Myers surprised by having a revolver pointed at him courtesy of Laurie Strode. The audio played at this moment features her telling Michael to "come on, let's go." The mask Michael is wearing seems fresher, indicating it could be in a different part of the film.

The film wouldn't feel complete without a couple of interactions between the two, as their feud is critical to the overall series. The last shot in the teaser showed what is undoubtedly Michael using his signature stalking and displaying his close-to superhuman strength on Strode. The first showdown will show audiences that Michael is back, and Laurie knows. The final battle may have much grimmer results.

The Film Will Go Back To Its Roots

While Halloween Kills may have been a fun, gory mess, Halloween Ends attempts to wrap up the new Halloween trilogy by bringing back the suspense factor. Michael Myers may have been a Terminator in the previous film, but simply put, he was on a mission to return home. Michael Myers was such an interesting character due to always being a step ahead, whether hunting, toying, or trapping his victims.

Instead of relying on shock value, the final installment features several flashbacks to the original, hinting that "The Shape" will return. Michael earned the name, "The Shape," in the original Halloween because of his elusiveness, mysteriousness, and method of appearing from the shadows. As an upcoming horror sequel in 2022Ends will bring this quiet, methodical Michael back as the trilogy comes to an end.

Laurie Wants Answers

Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween Kills

The second scene brings viewers into what appears to be Laurie's home. Audiences get Myer's point of view as he corners Laurie, believing her to be trapped. However, Strode knew Michael was there and has him at gunpoint. Instead of finishing him off, she tells him "come on, let's go."

As one of the best slasher movie characters, Michael Myers is a self-fulfilling prophecy; he is a ghost story coming to life, yet Strode wants answers. In Halloween 2018, she thought she was prepared, but decades of training and planning were all for nothing as Michael still remains at large. In Ends, it is safe to assume she has become even colder and potentially disillusioned while still wanting to know why Michael is the way he is.

Laurie Will Meet Her Fate

Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Stode in Halloween Kills

While the teaser featured several flashbacks, it did give a glimpse into one of the fights between her and Michael. Michael is seen throwing her across the kitchen with one arm, indicating this time he is going for the kill. Since Laurie's screen time was short in Kills, the third installment is surely going to have her leaving on her own terms.

Strode will meet her fate, but that doesn't mean she dies. While being besieged by an unstoppable murderer, she will always fight back valiantly. This brings Halloween: Resurrection to mind, which played out their connection, and only one will die from the other. The final showdown between the two will be a culmination of 40 years of anger and pain.

"Copycat" Michaels Are A Theme

Michael Myers walks out of a burning house in Halloween Kills.

While there are likely to be different versions of Michael's appearance, a likely theme is copycat killers. This is almost confirmed by the multiple versions of Michael throughout the teaser, considering the mask looks fresh, new, and even yellow in some instances. These instances are likely a copycat, as he falls right into Laurie's trap and does not put up a fight.

As the world continues to feature these "copycats," the franchise will likely give its take on the matter. However, since it is a film, Ends has the liberty to inflict any sort of "justice" it feels is deserved. However, this could backfire similarly to Halloween 4, when a teenager in the same mask was killed after being mistaken for Michael Myers.

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later Reference

Halloween H20 real reason michael myers never died

During one of the showdowns between Laurie and Michael, viewers saw a homage to one of the highly-ranked Halloween movies, Halloween H20The scene features the two characters fighting and, at one point, Michael decides he will put Laurie's hand in the garbage disposal, anticipating to leave a bloody mess.

In what made the public have an irrational fear of garbage disposals, Halloween H20 brought forth the unnatural suspense to this otherwise normal kitchen equipment. In H20, one of the victims drops his Swiss army knife into the garbage disposal. Michael Myers is a brooding force to be reckoned with, so the camera pans between him and the character, who desperately reaches for his only weapon.

Michael's Injuries Are Infected

Halloween Ends Laurie Strode Michael Myers

In the last fight between Strode and Michael, the real Michael Myers seemingly lost a few fingers on his left hand. The gore only elevates as Strode then gives Michael a taste of his own medicine and stabs him with a kitchen knife.

This proves Michael Myers does not have a superhuman healing ability. His hand is raw, infected, and potentially becoming gangrene. The injuries that Michael sustain are beginning to take a toll on his physical body, but that does not mean he is any weaker. The whole philosophy behind Michael Myers is the unknown. Injuries may slow down regular humans, but perhaps with Michael, they fuel him.

There Is A Time Jump

During the initial footage of Michael Myer's walking into a home, it seems that he arrived at Laurie Strode's new residence. After she engulfed her former compound in flames during Halloween 2018, there must have been a time jump for her to be in a new and furnished home.

The jack-o-lanterns gave the audience the clue that Strode is at least trying to be a part of the community, not a shut-off recluse, as she appeared in the 2018 film. Of course, Strode must know that the inevitable will happen, as Michael will make his rounds of shocking kills. Nevertheless, she likely uses this new diversion to prepare herself against Michael, but it is unclear if the plan will succeed.

Laurie Is Wearing The Same Clothes As The Original Halloween

Jamie Lee Curtis Halloween Ends

To finalize her legacy as the "final girl," Laurie Strode returns in triumphant fashion. Donning the same outfit from Halloween (1978), Strode will always fear the boogeyman but will equally always have the courage to confront him.

Laurie Strode is one of the most beloved and iconic "final girls" ever. Her legacy inspired countless similarly-themed films, influenced thousands of women to be courageous in the face of evil, and firmly cemented her legacy in film history during the final confrontation with the boogeyman. What a better way to pay homage to 1978 Laurie Strode than to have Jamie Lee Curtis don the "final girl" outfit one last time.

Old School Sailor Suit Child From Halloween (2018)

Michael Myers in Halloween

The opening shot with a sailor-suit child may confirm the events are taking place on the same Halloween night from the last two movies. The child initially appeared during the scene with Michael on Halloween 2018, and the kid shows up again in the trailer, making it a smart and subtle detail.

Of course, this could have been done on purpose to misdirect what will transpire in the final film. Since the child's face is never shown, there is no definitive proof that it happens on the same night. More than likely, the production team wanted to link the opening sequence to the same Halloween by showing the group of kids going home, unaware of the rampage that had taken place.
