David Gordon’s Halloween will have a place at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, as confirmed by Jamie Lee Curtis herself. San Diego Comic Con is the ideal place for studios and networks to reveal footage, concept art, and share big announcements regarding their upcoming projects – especially during panels held in Hall H, where the biggest studios generally have a reserved spot.

Among the biggest releases from Universal Pictures is Halloween, the long-awaited return of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and slasher Michael Myers, in a film that completely ignores all the sequels and remakes that came after the original Halloween film back in 1978. It was previously reported that Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures will host Hall H panels for Glass and Halloween - and the latter has just been confirmed.

Via her official Twitter account, Jamie Lee Curtis confirmed Halloween will have a spot in Hall H at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Curtis has been a regular guest at SDCC thanks to the series Scream Queens, so she is no stranger to the Comic Con experience. She did not share any more details but it’s fair to assume that director David Gordon will be in attendance, and hopefully, both Michael Myers: Nick Castle and Jude Courtney.

As mentioned above, Halloween doesn’t follow the continuity of the previous sequels and remakes, so essentially, it would be Halloween II – meaning that Michael and Laurie are not related in this story, treating that twist instead as a myth that spread after Michael’s crimes. The film will also introduce new characters such as Karen (Judy Greer) and Allyson (Andi Marichak), Laurie’s daughter and granddaughter, respectively.

The first Halloween trailer gave fans a quick look at what Laurie has been up to four decades after Michael Myers’ killing spree, showing that she has been preparing for his eventual return. It also showed that they are retconning the original film’s ending: after being shot multiple times, falling off a balcony, and presumed dead, Loomis (and the audience) looks over the balcony only to see that Michael is gone; the trailer shows Michael has been living in an asylum, as well as some quick flashes of crime scene photos, meaning that he was caught at some point. In addition to that, it featured some scenes that reminisce some moments from the original film, such as the asylum inmates in the middle of the road.

There’s no word yet on what Blumhouse and Universal will bring to the panel, but the presence of Jamie Lee Curtis will be enough reason for horror fans to stand in line for Hall H. Whatever they decided to share that day – whether it be a trailer, concept art, etc – let’s hope the studio will release it after the panel for the rest of the world to enjoy.
