Berry was paid her dues with smaller roles in the early days of her career, but at least some of those roles were in fun movies like The Last Boy Scout. Tony Scott directed this action-comedy written by Shane Black, which stars Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans.

Willis plays a private detective who reluctantly partners with a washed-up football star (Wayans) to uncover a deadly conspiracy. The movie is the kind of violent yet hilarious romp you'd expect from Shane Black, while the chemistry between the two leads is surprisingly entertaining.

Monster's Ball (2001): 7.0

Berry became a historic Oscar winner with her harrowing performance in the drama Monster's Ball. Berry plays a struggling single mother whose husband was killed on death row. She unexpectedly begins a romance with the prison guard (Billy Bob Thornton) who carried out her husband's execution.

Berry gives a completely raw and emotionally devastating performance. The film is a grim and compelling tale of racism, lust, and tragedy. Though difficult to watch for some viewers, Monster's Ball is a powerful cinematic experience.

Berry returned to her role of Storm in the X-Men franchise with its first sequel. X2: X-Men United finds the mutant heroes separated and forced to make unlikely allies as the mutant community becomes targeted by the government.

The sequel elevated the action and scope of the first film while still delivering an emotionally satisfying journey. The original characters are explored more, while new and exciting characters are introduced. X2 is a follow-up that managed to live up to the promise of the original film.

Just like Batman and Superman before it, this film proved that larger-than-life heroes from comic books can succeed in a live-action movie. The iconic characters are brought to life with pitch-perfect casting, especially with Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart.

Halle Berry as Sofia walking her dogs in John Wick Chapter 3

Throughout her career, Berry has constantly proven herself to be a hardworking actor and a total on-screen badass. She showed that those qualities have not faded at all with her scene-stealing performance in John Wick 3. Berry plays a former ally of John who reluctantly aids him on his dangerous journey.

Once again, the action of this series is mind-blowing. The fight sequences are some of the most thrilling set-pieces you'll see on film, and Keanu Reeves amazes in the title role yet again. Berry more than holds her own with some incredible stunt and fight sequences alongside Reeves.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014): 8.0

Many fans agree that the X-Men franchise hit its peak with this crossover story of the two main timelines of the series. The story starts in the future in which mutants are being exterminated. Wolverine is sent back in time to seek help from a young Professor X and Magneto stop their doomed future.

The ambitious story is pulled off surprisingly well. The two timelines join together brilliantly and, although characters like Berry's Storm don't get a lot to do, it's fun seeing them back in the mix. If only the franchise had chosen to stop there.
