New Hawkeye set images confirm Hailee Steinfeld's casting as Kate Bishop. More than a year since the project was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, production has begun giving the public their first look at Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton teaming up with the contemporary version of his bow-and-arrow wielding Marvel hero.

Renner has been teasing that he's gearing up to reprise his MCU role for a while now, with filming notices confirming that work was indeed poised to begin for the Disney+ show. Marvel Studios has yet to announce a specific release date for the project; nevertheless, with filming already in full swing, it's safe to say that it won't be too long before the show drops on the streaming giant. While Kevin Feige and his team have been primarily mum about the Hawkeye series in general, now that shooting is underway, new information about it is expected to come out starting with the public's first look at Steinfeld as Kate.

Shared on Twitter by a user with the handle @CreamOrScream is a string of Hawkeye set images featuring both Renner as Clint and Steinfeld as Kate. The pair are filming in a subway station. Interestingly, the actress carries a bow out in the open as it seems like they are running away from something. Check out the photos below:

For those unfamiliar with the character, Kate Bishop is the daughter of a wealthy businessman who has shady dealings on the side in the comics. After she gets assaulted, she is trained to protect herself in case someone attacks her again. When Clint Barton was presumed dead, she takes up Hawkeye's mantle; they eventually team-up in Matt Fraction and David Aja's Hawkeye run, which is said to be the primary source of inspiration for the show. This is backed up by these images, as the pair seems to be already working together at this point in the show.

These set images were released just after Steinfeld was first spotted on the set of the Hawkeye show. While Marvel Studios has yet to make any comments regarding it, Renner took it upon himself indirectly confirm Steinfeld's casting. The Bumblebee actress was actually among the company's top picks to play Kate in the MCU, although casting her didn't seem to be that easy due to varying reasons. At one point, she's believed to be out in the running for the role. Before all this new Hawkeye series content, Steinfeld sparked rumors of her involvement in the Disney+ series when she posted a cryptic image on her Instagram, which featured a bow emoji. It's curious if Marvel Studios has any plans of properly welcoming her to the MCU via an official statement, but considering that they knew that Hawkeye is set to film out in the open, they have to be aware that photos and videos like these will eventually make their way online.
